Picking the hobby up after almost a decade away, and am trying to figure out how my current army fits the 6th Ed meta.

As is, I will be fielding something looking like the following:

@HQ [ 1 ]

Bellial (190pt.) w/ Sword of Silence;

@Elites [ 3 ]
5x - Deathwing Terminator Squad (240pt.) w/Assault Cannon;
5x - Deathwing Terminator Squad (240pt.) w/Assault Cannon;
Dreadnought (120pt.) w/Assault cannon

@Troops [ 2 ]
9x - Tactical Squad (136pt.) w/heavy bolter;
9x - Tactical Squad (126pt.);

@Fast attack [ 2 ]
4x - Ravenwing Attack Squadron (125pt.)
> 1x - Ravenwing Sergeant (26pt.);
> 1x - Ravenwing Attack bike (60pt) w/multi-melta
Ravenwing Support Squadron (60pt.)
> 1x - Land Speeder (60pt.); Multi-melta;

@Secondary Detachment [ 1 ]

@HQ [ 1 ]
Mephiston, Lord of Death (250pt.) ;

@Elites [ 1 ]
Chaplain (100pt.);

@Troops [ 1 ]
5x - Death Company (100pt.)

@Fast attack [ 1 ]
Baal Predator (140pt.) Smoke launchers; Twin-linked assault cannon; Heavy flamers;

This should allow me to play nearly everything I have and field a pretty flexible army with quite a few scoring units.

Thoughts on how it could improve?

Can't comment on DA, but as a BA player i would have atleast 10DC with a transport. Either POD or Rhino (JP to expensive on DC). Pod seems the most favorable in 6th and you can drop it in round 1 (drop pod assault). Also a few power axes in your unit (1 axe per 5 models) so you get some ap2 attacks into the mix. On DC without upgrades you should go for Boltguns because they are relentless which means you can rapid fire before assault. Mephiston is not worth his points really.

Pod can only fit 10 so

9dc, 7 boltgun 2 poweraxe, droppod, librarian with presciense or shield of sanguinious - 345 points

That leaves you with 245 points on other stuff

Baal 140 points

105 points is kinda an odd number, nothing really comes to mind, perhaps some scouts for objective camping?
With Deathwing assault + drop pod assault you will have most of your list over the line in the start.

I actually like this setup better for 590 points.

10 DC, Land raider redeemer with multimelta, 2 flamestorm and TLAC, Librarian with shield

Land Raiders are better in 6th edition (alot of plasma) and you can cast shield inside the tank, giving you AV14, 4HP and 5+ cover save. Flamestorm ap3 > vs Baal heavy flamer. Should be easy to get in assault range with DC aswell move 6" disembark 6" rapid fire 18 attacks, assault 40 attacks + libby's shooting and assault. Should be able to deal with most units. Land raider deploy at 12" move 12 fire 1 normal bs weapon or move 6 more. (You should be able to assault in round 2, which supplements your deathwing assault pretty good.

Mephiston is kinda nerfed in 6th edition, due to not having invul save. With plasma being popular he will die fast against many lists.
Chaplain has crozius which is AP 4, kinda annoying. A Libby with prescience should be more than enough and you can reroll your rapid fire. He also has force sword.

Hello,

List is pretty cool. I like it; probably a lot of fun to play. Let me suggest a few things though.

What I like about Belial is he doesn't scatter when you deathwing assault. Which means you can be very selective on where you want him. I love the assault cannons on them. A heavy flamer though would destroy a lot of horde stuff though being twin-linked. I feel like your dreadnought is a little out of place, I personally would drop it. Max out your tacs squads. 9 is a odd number to me. Or, drop your tac sqauds for more termis. Also, you aren't taking TH/SS on Belial so you will just have to be careful with him, only toughness 4 without Ethernal Warrior. I would pick up a Librarian and try to fit him some where. The bikes are pretty solid; you can't go wrong with them.

Can't really comment to much on the BA's because I don't play them but I agree with what Remtek said. Mephiston is a little overpriced for what he does imo. Can't go wrong with Baal Preds. Put some dreads in some pods and then you are looking good. Just remember the termis do count for your reserves so you must field enough on the table to be legal.

Thanks and good luck.

I'll say this, don't buy anymore BA stuff until they get a new codex. If you expand your DA though, more Ravenwing is the way to go. RW Black Knights are just the business right now.

I will assume, with this list, that these are the models you have, so just a few suggestions:

See if you can outfit the bikes with meltaguns as well, then outflank them. You can run the Attack Bike independently, or not. There's not many tanks that can hold up to 3 outflanking melta weapons, and people have a habit of placing their tanks on their flanks.

Lose Mephy and the dreadnought to bring more tactical marines and DC (in a vehicle!); if you have the models. If you have drop pod models, I would consider keeping the dread, losing the Baal, and podding the DC and dread in as a tandem.

Anyway. let us know what other models you have if any and we can better direct our .02

Rule #1 is Look Cool.
