While I like the increase in pigmentation in the new paints, I'm having issues matching them to previous types.

I have my own Chapter of Space Marines and the main color is green, I used to mix 2/3 Dark Angel Green with 1/3 Mithril Silver to give them a bit of a green brushed-aluminum feel.

I got the Caliban green which is what the conversion chart called for but it's way too dark and I've wasted a bunch of other colors trying to match it to the old mix. After looking at the GW website it seems that Caliban green is a "base" color so it must have even more pigments than usual...

I think I'm gonna try "Waaaagh Flesh" (another "base" color) and "Warpstone Glow" next time to see if I can get a closer match next time.

Has anyone else run into those issues? Any tips to avoid that in the future?
Also, are there any good sites or stores to find small squeeze-bottles in bulk? The pots tend to dry up and get sloppy, it drives me nuts...

I appreciate the feedback/help.

The new line of paints is made by a different manufacturer, with different recipes in a different country. To top it off they have different names.
And you wonder why they dont 100% match the old ones?
They expanded the range quite a bit, many of the old colours have been replaced with a series of colours in darker through lighter hues without actually macthing the previous paints.

You might want to try coat d'arms, army painter or vallejo game colour for a green more akin to to the old dark angel green, as those 3 lines are either the same as an old citadel range, or copies of the line.

Has anybody got feedback on the army-painter line of paint AND brushes?

Looks pretty thorough and complete, just wondering if it's worth ordering from them...

the brushes are very good. the triangle shaped handle makes it easier to hold them. But the hairs do seperate sometimes at the tips. But they last twice as long as Citadel ones.

Not sure if its a help, but the Vallejo Game Colors Dark Green is pretty much the same as the old GW dark angels. Likewise Army Painter has a dark green that I used for my DA. Finally, you could check out Coat D'Arms, which made the original GW paints. Their dark angels green is an exact match.

Sounds like youve applied it too wet, possibly in too cold an environment. If tis too cold, the solvent wont evaporate as quick as it perhaps ought to. If you lay it down too wet, there will be extra solvent being trapped, thus risking melting the plastics. Most spray paints contain acetone or some other strong solvent as a thinning agent.

I use pro arte miniature brushes, you can find them pretty cheap online and still have the triangular handles like army painter but a fair bit cheaper.
