So I'm standing in my local store waiting for Friday Night Magic, when I see a box of awesome looking metal snakes on the wargaming shelves. I read them and go "oh so this is Warhammer. I've heard of this. Necrons look cool, like zombies meets robots by way of Egyptian iconography."

A few weeks later I have 2500 points of Necrons made up of assembled, sprayed and partially painted models. Problem is? I know so little about Warhammer and I am so unpracticed that I feel as if I'm stumbling through the game blindly. I've deiced that before I can play anymore, and I really love playing this game, that I need to learn to play properly, and I'm quickly beginning to think that Necrons, as awesome as I think they are, may be too far steep up the learning curve for me right now.

So yeah! I'm here to learn. Seriously considering trading to vanilla Space Marines (also have had Dark Angels recommended) until I have a few wins and months if play under my belt before I actually try to choose an army whose play style suits me.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

space marines of any flavor are generally considered to be the "starter" army, due to its flexibility and forgiveness of mistakes. As far as your necrons, i would avoid trading them away. they are one of the more potent armies now.

Dark angels 70/100 of deathwing, 50/100 ravenwing, 80-100 3rd company
IG +6k pts
and a sampling of different armies
warmachine, 40-50 points of:
protectorate, legion, and convergence armies
