I've done some searching around and cant seem to find the exact information I need.

I know Daemonic assault was removed?

But what i want to know is,
do i ALWAYS have to deep-strike only half of my army?

Can I not choose to (if I'm running allies) to field all of the allies i have, and deep-strike the entirety of my Chaos daemon forces as they come? (Or at least pass their rolls)?

can i choose to not field anything at all on turn 1? and wait to deep-strike anything that i am planning on fielding?

any information on this would be greatly appreciated,I'm tired of scouring my Codex and rule-book and not finding any definitive answers.

Thank you all.

Up to half your army (of those units not required to start in reserve) can start in reserve. If you have enough units in your allied army to place all of your daemons in reserve you can.

If at the end of any game turn you have nothing on the table you auto-lose. While there are a few armies who can build an all reserve list, most have units that come in turn 1.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Now does this have to do with points? Or total unit or model count?

I.e. in a 1000pt army, 500pts (may) start in reserve?

or is it based on 10 total units, 5 must start on field? or model count?

It says half your units, so it is unit count

There is a fair amount of fiddly rules related to what counts and what doesn't, so I do recommend you read page 124 and 125 carefully as the majority of it is there. There are some situations where units will not count for reserves and a few where joined units will count for 1.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.
