Hey everyone. I just signed up on here so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Willie, and I am from Oklahoma City. I just started playing 40K a few months ago, and since then I have been expanding my army little by little. I play orks and have a few variable lists that I've been working on. Most of the games I've played so far have been pretty small usually around 750 points or so. But here pretty soon I will be playing larger games. For starters 1000 points. I know its not a whole lot more points, but I'm in a league right now and thats where the points cap atm.

I dont have much experience playing in larger games, and now all unit restrictions are off. So people can bring what ever they want which is kinda scary.... Anyway heres what I'm planning on bringing.


Warboss: 'eavy armor, cybork, Attack Squig, BP, PK, twin linked shoota

Boss nobs x 5 with painboy: 'eavy armor, cybork, 1PK, 4BC, 5 twin linked shootas, Trukk with BS and ram

'Ard Boys x 11 with nob: sluggas, PK, BP, Trukk with BS and ram

Shoota boys x 23: 2BS and thats it

Two squads of Deffkoptas x 3 with BS


My strategy is just to race across with my trucks and engage heavy units with my nobs, and infantry with my 'ard boys while the shootas camp on an objective or just march across. The 2 squads of deffkoptas will try to pick off units while staying out of range. The only real concern I have is an opponent with lots armor.

Anyway thats about it for me hopefully I can get the rest of this stuff painted by next weekend.

It just has more traffic from people who are into list building, so they would give the most advice. Be sure to explain the process of the escalation league and post your 750 point list and try to reinforce that you have to have these models in your 1000 point list and then post your ideas/thoughts on how to expand.

Do expect that some people are going to ignore the fact that you have a 750 point list you have to include and post a complete new 1000 point list for you . But for the most part you should get some solid advice.

d_usa had some good advice, be sure to include information pertinent such as "must include this 750 points in my 1000 point list".. even doing so like he said, you'll get people who will re-write you new 1000 point lists like they didn't even read it.

May the Waaagh! be with you. The best way to gain experience is to play, feel free to ask a lot of question, we all have opinions here.
Painted figure always do better than unpainted, so good luck with that.
250 more points is a 3rd of your army added in, so it's a big deal.

I should have been more clear for the league that I'm in. It is an escalation league,but.... at the 1000 point level I guess they are letting everyone redo their lists from scratch. So I decided change mine up as well

Previously I was using a big mek with lots of boys, but I wanted to try something different this time around. I almost have everything painted, and I haven't played with my updated list yet. I don't play unless my army is completely painted; I feel like it takes away from the game to play with unpainted models. Nevertheless I have been working pretty hard getting my last few models painted maybe I'll upload some pics soon of the Orange Boyz.

Ah, I didn't know if you were playing the league at the GW. From the instructions they had there I didn't think that they would let you redo from scratch. You should have no problem asking for advice in the list building section then, although you can always say "I have these models and I wanna save some money by using some of them in the new list"
