I'm looking for a DOW that me and my boyfriend can play as our favorite races. I know the games that have Tau, and the ones that have Tyranids, but not one that has both, and I want to be sure before using my money to buy the game. Could anyone help me out?

Hive Fleet Viscera - 600pts

None, I'm afraid. The Tau only feature in what's commonly known as Dawn of War 1 - namely, the Dark Crusade expansion (though having this made them playable in the later Soulstorm too).
The Tyranids are in all versions of Dawn of War 2, but are featured best in Retribution, where they have their own single-player campaign.

To get both into one game, you'll have to look at mods.

Would a race mod work in multiplayer?

Depends entirely on the mod in question - once you find one, you'll have to check its details. Bear in mind that these are created by the community and not anything officially developed, so use at your own risk.

I found these, but unfortunately no word at a quick glance on whether they're multiplayer too:

Wow, the changes to this sound horriterribad and really broken...

Thats what I see too. I can't even see any pictures of tau stuff in there, but it does say it adds tau.

There was a long running DoW1 mod to add the Tyranids some time ago and DoW1 had built in mod support so chances are if it ever got off the ground it would work in multiplayer.

I've played the Soulstorm tyranid mod on multiplayer - I Lanned against a mate. That worked fine.

However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

None.

Tau only show up in DoW 1 Dark Crusade and Soulstorm.

Nids only show up in DoWII

But why would you want to avoid the awesomeness of DoW2 for the lameness of DoW1?

The Tyranid mod for DoW1 is pretty lame.

They're very different games. I loved both, but for different reasons. DoW1 is definitely the better game for getting the "tabletop" feel of massed forces.

Yes, I know each one has its strengths, but that doesn't mean I can't caustically respond to people saying DoW2 is gak.

Frankly, DoW2 is one of the beset RTS games ever released. Ranks right up there with TA, SupCom, Wargame, etc.

The Tau do make one small appearance in DoW 2. You can get a Tau Commander as DLC for The Last Stand game mode (and he is probably tied with the Hive Tyrant as the strongest choice).

Ooh, I missed that bit. Bryllcreem, shame on you! Minus 10 internets.
