Awesome! Perhaps drybrush a light grey over the horns to make them seem more weathered. Love the name! Jaffa cakes are the best.

Personally, I might have pushed the colors on the rider a bit lighter/darker in places for greater contrast (all the light brown tones tend to blend together, somewhat, at a glance), but it's not a deal-breaker. The smooth painting and lovely basing more than make up for one stylistic (as opposed to technical) point of contention. The overall effect is still downright awesome.

@Oadie, what would you think if I brought the brown fur 'cape' up to a more whitey-cream, like an animals winter pelt?
The rust has to stay as it ties in with the rest of the ogres...

Thanks for the comments though everyone...

I think more of a (blue-)grey-white might work better, as you'll be working with a different color temperature. I'm afraid that a warmer, creamy white would simply mean jumping to the other side of the skin, if we think of the browns as a linear gradient and look at the absolute value of the difference between shades, while provide no greater contrast (although it would help separate it from the rust and the pants, at least). You've already got some turquoise accents, so I don't think a slightly cool near-white would be too jarring, and keeping it light would sufficiently distinguish it from the beard.

That's my feeling, at least, if you really want to change it. My opinion doesn't carry all that much weight, so don't go tweaking things you're already happy with. For all you know, I might have quibbles with the new result, too.

Well, tbh part of it IS the light, as I was struck by how orange all of the photos I took seemed (I photographed the entire horde the other day), when I can look at them in the flesh and they aren't nearly as orange-y-brown. But I never was 100% happy with the cloak myself, as I always thought it blended too much with the creatures fur...

Monstrous! I like the grays in the antlers, it offsets the earth-tones of the rider nicely. I'll nit-pick for a moment and say it would be awesome to see more color-delineation in the various areas of the rider himself. But when I see something this cool I tend to start to get super critical because there's no way I'm doing that myself!

The base is nice too, tells a story, makes an environment without over-powering the model.

Good to see Jaffa cake, I have many memories of playing him. Though I can't forgive how his rider keeps on one-shot-killing my Chaos Sorcerer off his manticore. That spear also poked my hand once, and it BLED! Precious blood.

Those pics are good.

Cheers pal, btw Leech touched on something, now I dont know HOW, or WHY, but this guy (with his as-standard ogre bolt thrower) has an unnatural ability to not only hit whatever he is aiming at, but in the case of mounted guys, ALWAYS hit (and subsequently kill) the riders. Guess I should model up an acog scope for him...

Maybe some icicle on the horns would be good!
