Implacable Skitarii

In my attempt to transition from private forum life to the world that is dakka, I figure why not start a plog for my insanity.
I recently sold off my decent sized army of Orks, round about 4500pts worth as I hadn't played them in ages. With the onset of new Eldar coming out, I basically said what the hell and why not. Then this happened:
So over the past week or so and starting a new job, I am currently working out where to start and how they should get painted. Thus my first batch:
2 Wraith Knights, 10 Wraith Guard, 10 Guardians, 2 Crimson Hunters, 10 Dire Avengers.
I've always like the non-standard scheme John Shaffer did for the Alaitoc that were in the 5th Ed Big rule book. Various blues to make up a stipple pattern, with silver, black and bone accents.
My rendition of it isn't close but i think it will do
Scatter Shield
Crimson Hunter(don't know how well it will show up)
Now here is where i've hit a wall. I don't know whether or not to keep the gems blue(getting them some shades brighter) or go with the silver like the ones Shaffer did. The lighter blue works ok and doesnt distract at all. The Silver also works ok, but does pull your eyes to look at them. what looks best?

Very nice start, but I think there needs to be a little more variation than just all blue. No criticism intended as your paint job is beautiful. I nearly believe it needs some color to bring it out. Then again m not eldar, so maybe they believe in the subtle beauty .

Looking forward to seeing the new Eldar painted. I agree with the request for blue variation, although I must say I like the blue striations (streaks) on that scattershield, though I'm not sure if they're intentional. I just thought of a crazy idea of doing the blue as blue marble (black/blue/subtle white streaks) from looking at that scattershield's markings. A play on the Alaitoc scheme, so to speak.
Anywho - keep the updates coming! Subscribed.

Thanks guys, I do agree that there needs to be some more color somewhere. I am hoping once it all comes together on the finished model. The silver helps break it up a tad and the grey for joints, black on certain items, green accents and bone(with black and silver on weapons) will help do that same.
The striations are meant to be on purpose. What I am doing to get them: Airbrush Vallejo Dark Blue for basecoat over white primer. drybrush sky blue/deep sky blue, random drybrushing of intense blue/dark prusia blue over the sky blues. this is followed by a full wash of watered down Vallejo Transparent Blue, once dry followed with lightly running a frayed brush over the model with Drakenhof Nightshade.
where the eldar text is on the shield, I used a light green with the black backer in an attempt to make it glow.

That looks really nice. I'm a fan. I think the colors are working really well together so far.

The blue looks great with the black plates. Looking forward to the final models!
Although the blue looks super great and should be displayed on everything, it does need something to bring everything to life. The cool silver works great with cool blue but does distract you a bit. I would suggest leaving some gems blue and just pop a selected few up with silver.
P.S. If I didn't already mention it I'm totally loving the blue.

Small update:
I jumped on the Warp spider band wagon and bought some, along with a 2nd ranger squad and some fire dragons.
Did some work on squad one of the Dire Avengers. I am going for a darker look for the armor, blue gems, guns will be bone in color, plumes yet to be determined.
