Pinning the legs to the bases is the easiest way to do it, as well as using a small blob of GS and Super Glue.

yeah, go for superglue (not the GW kind if possible)

Super glue is brittle and using GS to hold down a marine is a little overkill. Pinning would work best if you are mounting the model on cork for basing but if you are just gluing the model directly in the base, use a quality plastic cement (not the GW brand).

I use super glue, GW plastic glue is just rubbish.

Any GW glue is rubbish. You should be using Revell contacts or Testors Model Master plastic glue. Once glued they will never come off that base.

how is GS overkill but pinning isnt? its so much easier to blob it on than it is to drill the hole through his foot >.<

Pinning is the real solution, put a pin int he models foot that contacts the base, drill a hole though the base where you want it to meet up, poke it through, with a dab of superglue to stop it wobling loose later perhaps. or greenstuff to level the surface beneath the foot on a very textured base. and bend he pin on the underside of the base to pull it down and keep it tight. for an average pin i usually use a bit of a paper clip.. i find hem easy to source and do the tick just fine. bend it with the side of the cutters used to clip a length off
dont use your sprue cutters for cuting hard wires, itle put a notch in them unless theyre really high end ones.

I wouldn't call using GS to attach a figure to a base 'overkill' since it's going to give you a less secure bond than just using glue.

Superglue (not GW's) does the job. Any plastic glue other than GW's will do it better.

There is rarely any real need to pin polystyrene miniatures if you are using plastic glue.

If you need something thicker to pin the plastic foot to the base, try gluing a small piece of sprue UNDER the base to pin into.

Helps a lot - even with the twinkletoes GW assault marines.

But Revels Contacta and Humbrols Poly Cement (both plastic glues) are excellent

This is not an issue of super glue vs. plastic glue, but rather a case of "Every hobby item GW touches turn to gak".

Not actually true. Quite a lot of GW's hobby supplies have been very good. Their clippers have varied over the years between reasonable and excellent. Their 'master' series brushes are re-badged W&N brushes. Their green stuff is the exact same stuff you get from everyone else who sells green stuff.

The main issue with most of GW's hobby supplies has always been the price, rather than the quality.

Their glues are, however, watery rubbish.

I use gw super thin glue and never had an issue. People always slate the glue but that's because they use way to much. The more you use the longer it takes and in some cases the weaker the bond

The problem with gluing them to the base is we tend try and rush them as we want to finish assembling the mini. Give the legs longer to cure as you need a strong bond on the feet as they are supporting a whole figure.

I've been building models for nearly 30 years now. I don't slate GW's glue because I don't know how to use it. I slate it because it's not very good.

I've been modeling for just over 20 years and have always used gw glue and I've had no dodgy outcomes with it. If anything its been consistently good.

I feel sorry for you. Think about the money you would have saved buying a better, cheaper glue all those years...

Do not use the GW plastic glue especially the thick one. It is absolutely terrible

I've been buying it from my local gaming shop which has been there for years and I always support local firms. So I don't see it as money wasted as he gives me a good discount on my gw goodies.

i am inclined ot agree that gw glues are garbage, over priced and under performing. They do the job just fine untill you see what else is available. Within your 20 years im sure youve used something else maybe atleast once? honestly next time give some of the other rbnads a go, they perform better in the case f the plastic glue, and are better value in case of the superglue

If you're happy with it, that's great for you. For me, 'supporting my local' wouldn't extend to paying 5 times as much for an inferior product, but whatever floats your boat
