Hello there Dakkanaughts! Here are various levels of my foot slogging Death Guard list, just want people's input to see if I am on the right track. I am still only around the 600 point level in terms of models, but will soon hopefully have the full 1999 point level amount!

I will be putting Typhus with the chaos spawn (where they fit) and have them slingshot him up the field in to combat, hopefully by turn 2.

This is pretty standard. Nurgle+Helldrakes are a potent combination, although I think you'll struggle against Tau and IG who will just make you roll a million saves. FNP only saves you 33% of the time.

Also, at 2k you have virtually no way of bringing down AV14 reliably. Land Raiders are popular these days. You have 2 obliterators and two very slow meltaguns. This is not adequate at 2000 points.

Other than that, try to squeeze in some more ablative wounds for the havocs. Lose a few zombies or something. I'd say 8 per squad is a good number. That way you have to lose half the squad before Autocannons start going down.

Cheers

So should I drop some havocs for more Oblits then?

Interesting, my original list I had a while back had only Oblits, no havocs, to which I was advised to drop most for the havocs with autocannons. May have to reshuffle my list a little then.

Auto havocs are good but jut keep 1 set. You need some points invested in things that can pop AV14.

Yeah that makes sense. I might drop some more zombies, one set of havocs, and add another couple of Oblits. Thanks for that, appreciate it.

Give each plague marine squad 2 meltas and a rhino. There ya go, 4 fast melta guns. That's what I do.

The above solution would also make your scoring units mobile. Not the worst thing in the world.....

I have been advised by many people to avoid rhinos as they get pegged too easily. Is that wrong advise?

People whine a lot about first blood and easy kill points.

Kill points are 1/6 missions and First Blood is 1/3 secondary objectives. In a close game, sure, first blood can cost you the victory, but only if you go second (or go first and fail to kill a unit).

For the majority of scenarios, you get at the very least, a flat out move up the board. All you need the Rhinos for is to get you to that objective before your opponent does. Your Plague Marines will take care of the rest once they're sitting on it. Rhinos also protect you, at least for a turn or two, against those dreaded helldrakes.

Rhinos aren't the best thing ever, but they offer you mobility which will never go out of style.

Exactly. Rhinos get your midfield units to well... Midfield! Footslogging 24 point space marines is Ann excellent way to lose a game more than first blood..

Okay when I get home I will update list, but dropped one set of havocs, got two more Oblits, added rhinos to plague marine squads. This actually really makes sense. Thanks again guys.

Oh also dropped Zombies down to 13 per squad. That comes to 1997 points.

Also should I be deep striking my Oblits in?

I wouldn't deep strike Oblits in. All you're doing is stealing a turn or two from their shooting for a chance to get closer. I usually walk mine up with my PMs, which keeps them from being backfield bait. I make my PMs walk, I don't think it hurts them that bad. They usually weather the storm well enough that adding a rhino is relatively minor.

I do hate zombies, so there is that.

Everything else looks great man.

All I need now is the rest of the models and you will get a bat rep for sure!
I will be posting some pictures of my Typhus and PMs (WIP) tonight.
Thanks again.

Cancel that, camera is refusing to take clear photos. Wife thinks the lense is stuffed. I will get some photos up when I can!
