Can I:
-Lay down chaos models (with the DA colors) and pull out a DA codex and claim to be playing a fallen angels army?
-With a bit of conversions, lay down sisters of battle models and pull out a BA codex, claiming to be playing a bloodthirsty sisters convent?
-Make a model that looks like a skeletal undead lord of change and claim it is a greater unclean one who used to be a greater deamon of tzeentch?

Note for clarity: I am NOT asking if I can mix and match codexes, just if I can use other models with codexes they don't match for "fluff" or 'Forging a Narrative" reasons. Also I want to know for tournament purposes, as I already know my friends are fine with it.

The reason I thought of this is that I came across references to someone who wanted to play a mono-god CD army and one person advised him to use any unit and just convert it to be stylized for the god he wanted and name it something else, but use the rules for the unit and be clear with the opponent what each thing was. So I am wondering how creative is it okay to go with this sort of thing?

Yes, probably, and sketchy but fine.

Remember, creativity and the rule of cool sometimes has to be balanced against simple game courtesy. If someone constantly thinks your skeletal Lord of Change is just that, it may be time to rethink your modelling choices.

Vanished Completely

Seems to me you are talking about model substitution.

From what I have seen, very few people have a problem with model substitution in and of itself. Yet it is something you tend to see the exact opposite of when you get to tournaments. They are very strict against model substitution, many places even stating you need to have every weapon and war gear on the model that is being presented in the army list before you can put it on the table.

So the best advise I can give is: ask the organizers directly.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

As long as the models are WYSIWYG how you paint or fluff them is irrelevant.

-Make a model that looks like a skeletal undead lord of change and claim it is a greater unclean one who used to be a greater deamon of tzeentch?

This is going to be a lot more difficult. With MCs size and shape are very important for LOS purposes, since there's such a wide range of sizes and shapes for different MC models. On top of that, with such a different model it's going to be a lot less obvious what the model's rules are supposed to be and people might not be happy with that.

Also I want to know for tournament purposes, as I already know my friends are fine with it.

You will need to ask the person running the tournament you are interested in, not random people on a forum. It would be unreasonable to enforce weird fluff/painting rules, but there's nothing stopping TOs from having ridiculous house rules like "no Ultramarines allowed".

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
