Hello dakka,

I am interested in putting some rare earth magnets or something like that on the underside of my hormagaunts slotta bases to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. 1) magnetized for easy transport with a metal tray and 2) to add some weight to the base of tippy hormagaunts.

I am wondering what size magnets to buy that will sit flush under the slotta base. I do not want to use any clay or putty or anything like that, I just want to glue the magnet under the base. I saw a picture somewhere on the net of someone that had done this, but try as I might, I haven't been able to find it again. I know it's been done, and I'm hoping one of you will know the correct magnet size so I can order them online. I haven't been able to find rare earth magnets locally (michaels, walmart, target... maybe I'm looking the wrong place, but anyway, i'm not rushed for time so online will be fine)

Thanks!

A magnet 3/8" in diameter and 3/32" thick will fit perfectly on the larger side of a slotta-base. That's based on measurements with a caliper.

It wont add much weight though.
