HELLO DAKKA!!!!!!

So, I recently got into employment, and now that I have a nice pay check sitting in my bank account, I'm taking on the biggest wargaming project I've ever done, and really need some help.

I'm building both an 8 x 4 (feet) snowy gaming board with a 2ft trench system either end (2ft front to rear) and also starting my Dkok army.

First things first, I have done this as a blog as I intend to update this as I go, and secondly, ANY advice is wanted. Any tips for how to make snow, how to make enough realistic looking snow for an 8ft by 4ft table, and also any pictures of other people trench boards or real trench systems would be of great help.

So, this is it for now. Tomorrow I'm starting drafts etc, so until then, goodbye!

Not a full table, but if you like this snow http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/494448-Death%20Korps%20of%20Krieg%2C%20Hydra.html the recipe is simple: Woodland Scenics soft flake snow mixed with realistic water, which produces a nice icy slush. And the ingredients are pretty cheap, if you're doing a DKoK army the snow to cover an 8x4 table will be a rounding error in the price.

Also, even if you don't like that recipe the most important lesson is to buy direct from Woodland Scenics or a similar company instead of getting ripped off for "gaming hobby" materials. I would not be at all surprised if the stuff GW sells is all just re-branded scenery materials from "mainstream" modeling at a huge price increase, just like green stuff and all of their tools.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

That's perfect. It gives the look that it has snowed heavily, but artillery and troop movements have churned up the snow.
