Give your master of runes TDA not runic as then he will get an invunerable save as well.

Dreadnaught - what are you trying to acheive with him? hes really short range with a MM but he doesnt have a pod so he will have to walk towards the enemy or stand still wasting himself for a few turns before he can do anything, dont think hes a very good choice in the loadout you have suggested.

Grey Hunters, decent choices, but swap 2 squads out for 2 meltaguns so you have some anti tank in your infantry squads as well, wolf standards are a must have in your hunters packs as well - as they stand they are massively immobile footslogging, either rhino's or drop pods would be a better idea.

Auto/Las predators, decent choices, but dont do much that long fangs don't do, and have the added weakness of being able to be taken out by a single shot, that rarely happens to fangs.

Allies - first of all why are you taking them? There are equivalents to all of the units in the wolf codex.

Captain - a captain without a melee weapon is a giant waste of points, get him some sort of power weapon or a lightning claw, if you cant afford the points swap him for a librarian

Assault Terminators - again you suffer from footslogging, you can deep strike in but with everything else walking they will get stranded and mowed down.

Scouts - could you give them snipers? otherwise they are an ok choice

Thunderfire Cannon - solid choice

Overall i think your army lacks severely in mobility and its too fragmented, some vehicles are set up to move forward, others for a static firebase, you will struggle with anti flyer as it is.

I would consider getting a 2nd rune priest in there and prescience and putting him in the long fangs for some form of decent anti flyer, can whack them behind an ADL as well as that is allways useful

Actually, just get rid of Master of Runes all together. 50 points is half-way to another rune priest. If you can scrounge up 30 more points, you can exchange MoR and runic armor for another rune priest. Two models are harder to kill than one model with runic armor and you'll still be able to cast two powers per turn.

This...
6 Long Fangs w/ 5 Missile Launchers-130

actually costs 140 points.

2500 pts

1. Master of Runes is too expensive for what it gives you. It is never worth it. There is always more useful things to take for that many points.

2. Your Dreadnought doesn't have a Twin-Linked Multi-Melta. It is not even an option. I'm assuming it has a Power Fist and Storm Bolter? Either way, drop the Wolftooth Necklace. Dreadnoughts are a wee bit fragile in close combat now, especially against the things that you'd need a Wolftooth Necklace against, and it won't save you from them.

3. I highly recommend Wolf Standards as well as Plasma Guns for your Grey Hunters. Mark of the Wulfen would not be a bad option either. But no matter what, you want to get yourself some Transports unless you find points for Wolf Guard to lead the squads.

4. The Long Fangs cost 140 points.

1. I'm not sold on the Captain unless he's on a Bike (so you have scoring Bikes) personally, and I'm fully against him not having a Power Weapon of some sort. A Librarian costs the same and would serve you better.

So you have some list cleanup to do already. I'd do that and figure out how many extra points you have left over. Transports (Rhinos and Drop Pods) make a lot of sense for your Grey Hunters. An allied Flyer wouldn't hurt either.

Okay Ive made a few adjustments. And the main reason Im taking allies is for the TFC, which SW can't access.

For your allies I'd rather see a libby in there with termie armour and SS. That way we can run with the Termies and gate them around at least seeing as you have no transport. Also taking nullzone for the all important reroll invul saves. He also carries a force weapon. All round better and cheaper than your captain.

I like the axe the best. He is pretty durable with the 3++ so attacking at I1 isn't too bad. That way if you do battle with a MC or any multi wound character you have a good chance of getting your force weapon to activate and kill. 2 wounds isn't great but I'd rather the axe than anything else and 2+S isn't all that great and the AP3 sword isn't useful vs termies and most special characters who usually have 2+ saves.

One thing I was wondering was where the rune priest would go. Ideally you want him in one of those DP so you can make use of his Jaws if needed. You may need to find a place for him to fit first.

That's true. Maybe I could drop the allied termies and take a unit of Wolf Guard in a pod for him

That could work...but then where would the Libby go.

I'd just drop some of the grey hunters and add him in one of those squads.

Food for thought

But which squad should I lose the special weapon in?

Drop a Meltagun and stick him in that Drop Pod. You should have 45 points left over if all your numbers are accurate. I'd take a 5th Drop Pod on the Long Fangs and take a Chooser of the Slain on the Rune Priest as well.

The reason for the 5th Drop Pod is due to how the Drop Pod Assault rules work. You can drop down 3 Drop Pods if you take a 5th one. Against some enemies, that means dropping 30 Grey Hunters instead of 20 on Turn 1. Against others, it means holding back some of your Grey hunters for later objective nabbing.

Okay, Do you think Drop Pods are the best options with them?

I tend to. Rhinos are only going to last a turn or two in any event most of the time. Being able to have 10-20 Grey Hunters show up on Turn 2-4 anywhere on the table can be very, very helpful.

If you had TWC or some other unit that could be screened, I'd take Rhinos. If not, Drop Pods.

And you always have the option of walking them on the board and dropping down the Pods empty if you don't want to get really close to the enemy. I tend to do that against Tyranids, using the Pods to make lines of fire and force them to come in close to me on my own terms instead of giving myself to them.

Okay. My other options for allies or main armies are GK, BA, or CSM. Am I using the right combo do you think?

Are you sure the Sgt can't take the launcher? I'm pretty sure it says any model in the squad

And the 2nd power is something I wanted to get help deciding, should I just go with an offensive one, or should I take another defensive one?
