So i know the emperor stomped him in the final battle of terra, and i know that horus died, but thats not my question my question is why has horus's soul not been brought back if he was such a mighty leader? they have done it before with Eliphas the inheritor after he was killed in the kronus campaign and at meridian and the dark gods brought him back. so why not Horus?

IIRC, the Emprah destroyed Horus' soul when he slayed him at the end of the HH.

Oh darn i was hoping for something epic like the dark gods are waiting for a suitable body to have Horus's soul to poses and take back command of the 9 traitor legions and give attacking terra another go.

Soul ripped apart by an infinitesimal shred of the the Emperor's mind power. Too bad the Emperor didn't have the balls to kill him before he was so badly mangled. However, 40K wouldn't exist as the game it is if the Imperium still had that uber-Turk leading its armies still.

That's telekinesis, Kyle...

Besides, Horus failed. And the Chaos Gods don't like failure.

Unless it's from Abaddon, who apparently gets to just keep... on... trying...

Hasn't failed. Each one was to acquire power, each one has made him stronger.

I don't think anyone in 40k is quite as dead as Horus. Pining for the fjords doesn't begin to sum up just how utterly obliterated every facet of him was.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

The closest to Horus being reborn was when Fabius Bile cloned him or something like that, right?

There was a suggestion in 2nd edition that Abaddon may have been a clone of Horus, although I don't recall Fabulous Bill being mentioned as having anything to do with it.

I would say that fluff has been well and truly stomped by the Horus Heresy series, though.

I've wondered if part of his soul lived on in Abbadon and that why he rejected the hero worship he was getting, he knew he shouldn't be worshiped for failing.

Like the great storm of the Horus Heresy, the forces of the True Gods will descend upon the Emperor's minions. The stars will tremble at their passage and the mighty armadas of the Warmaster Abaddon will bring annihilation to a hundred worlds. Know this, for these things will come to pass.

He couldn't have destroyed his body utterly if they were able to attempt to create a clone after his defeat though, right?

They'd need at least some DNA to do it...

Huh, I do recall Horus' body being reclaimed.

Either I am recalling the details wrong (Possible) or the fluff is contradicting itself (Also possible).

I remember the fluff stating that his body was taken back to the EoT where they tried to clone him but someone (was it Abaddon?) destroyed the body before the work could be completed.

Horus soul was obliterated by the Emperor and the body of Horus was taken from the Vengeful Spirit by Abaddon and placed him in a tomb which they used as their homeworld, where a combined fleet included the Emperors Children destroyed the fortress and captured the body of Horus,

Fabulous Bill then went on to clone the body numerous times until Abaddon, and his new Black Legion, attacked the facility and destroyed all the clones.

The story is recounted by Fabulous himself in Black Tide by James Swallow and the reflection that Abaddon is maybe Horus cloned son is mentioned in one of the Heresy books if I recall and also mentioned in one of the Night Lord trilogy.

No pity, no remorse, no shoes

IIRC the new chaos codex mentions that Fabulous Bile has already started on his "Emperor Project" however they just
left it as "it would take a long time for his project to become a reality". Somehow I have a funny feeling that his project came
from Horus DNA/geneseed

Both the original Bill King story and the 'update' in the Horus Heresy Artbooks have the Emperor's psychic blast free Horus from chaos domination, with the Emperor then killing him to prevent the ruinous powers regaining control. Therefore if his soul still exists it may well resist being brought back, and if it IS brought back, quite likely the first thing he'd do is start slaughtering all the degenerate traitorous filth around him. Hell that could have happened a hundred times over the millenia with each attempt being erroneously written off as "Oh we must have gotten a daemon or something, not our Lord Horus"
