So i just started playing again in about novemeber and i currently have Dark Angels and CSM, this time around i really really enjoy the modeling/painting aspect of it and really want to try new things. On top of that i want something that plays very different from my first two armies. I was looking at eldar but everyone and their mother will be starting them, and i want somethin a little edgier no pun intended, so i was wondering about DE, and most importantly where do i start? is the battle force worth it? or do i buy individual boxes? any and all help would be greatly appreciated

DE are still a glass cannon but here comes a really nice read from earlier this year and links below to read about them:

DE are a lot of fun, but they can be tricky to play. I do however think they have some of the best looking models out there and are one of the most fun to play. The battleforce should be good, you'll likely want a few raiders, a bunch of Warriors and jetbikes are great right now. The Wyches may or may not get used - a lot of people don't like them but I love them. I do think it's a really good place to start.

While warriors are the better choice, they are technically really meta dependent. That said I have yet to sere a warrior squad not take out a monstrous creature in doubly tap shooting. Though any unit with poisoned weapons should do it. Wytch seen best used for tying up units in cc or assaulting vehicles to kill them.

The bikes are terribly fun and come in the starter box, if you go that route I think 2 or 3 boxes is a solid start to an army. Though if you prefer wracks styled army individual boxes are going to be better.
