The Heralds + Karanak join the hounds for a fast-moving hard-hitting unit that ignores terrain and has move-through-cover (so the heralds don't have to take dangerous terrain tests). The hounds act as meat-shields/extra wounds for the heralds.
The Bloodthirster and Princes usually tear apart some expensive things before dying. The troop choices I usually reserve and deep strike onto objectives.
I still have 70 points to play with and although I have tested the list and it works decently enough I'm not really sold.
What to do with the extra points?
* take more hounds -> more wounds but doesn't really help the unit
* take a defense line -> since the hounds can scout I can move the unit + heralds up to the defense line deployed at the edge of my deployment half and enjoy a 4+ cover save turn 1 while still having advance quite a bit across the field
* drop a herald or karanak and take another troop choice
* takes some more lesser gifts/bloodletters
I don't have much other models to play with and I'd like to stick with the Khorne mono-theme. I know it's not the most powerful combi but it is fun to play a fast moving hard hitting force.
Other options I have available:
* another Bloodthirster
* Lord of Change or other Greater Daemon (I have one of each god + Fateweaver)
* 1 Skullcannon
* Another 10 flesh hounds
* Another 10 Bloodletters and/or champion, standard and musician
* 2 Khorne Heralds on Chariots
* 2 Heralds on Foot
Has anyone tried mono-Khorne and done something different?
