I am on the poorer side and can't afford a copy of the 6th edition rules anytime soon. Can someone who knows the rules tell me if this list is actually viable? (Quick note all of the points calculations were done using 5th ed codex, so if there are point changes correct me.)
HQ:
Pedro Kantor:175
Troops:
5 man scout squads with sniper rifles and camocloaks. 90
5 man scout squads with sniper rifles and camocloacks. 90
Elites:
10 man sterngaurd squad with dedicated transport (rhino) and 1 combi melta. 290
9 man sterngaurd squad with dedicated transport (rhino) and 1 combi melta. 265
Heavy:
Predator with tri las cannons. 165
Predator with tri las cannons. 165
Fast attack:
Stormtalon Gunship with default gear 130
Stormtalon Gunship with default gear 130
Total:1,500 if my math is correct.

Well the 5th edition Sm codex is still the one to use. (there is no 6th edition codex for them yet). So your points should be correct.
It seems okay on the whole.
Sternguard however should have lots of combi-weapons. That is one of the best options they get, do not waste it.
To get the points for these I would suggest swapping the predator turrets for auotcannon. The tri-lascannon version has always seemed a bit points-heavy for me, so I find the auto-las version more points efficient, and it would make your sternguard that much better.
Aside from that it's okay, and should be fun to play with.
Hope this is useful.

I think that's a nice solid build. I've always felt that Auto-las predators are more points-efficient. You still get 2 lascannon shots but unless you're shooting at a land raider, I'd rather have 2 S7 shots than 1 S9; even if it is twin-linked. If that's how you built the model, so be it.

I actually built the model out using magnets so i can switch out weapons, so it wouldn't be hard.
If i were to do that what would you recommend i put the points into? I personally would get the extra guy in that 9 man squad, and maybe up the scout units to a full 10 soldiers.

The stormtalons got a price adjustment in DftS. 130 points will get you upgraded to the skyhammers with enough change left over to buy one of you sternguards a c-melta.
I'm a big proponent of bare bones sternguard. I take them for the special ammo, not combi-spam. That said, if you have the weapons, I'd put 2 c-meltas in the squad. This will help ensure a kill if you find yourself tank hunting.
I would drop the preds down to auto/las. Adding a pair of MM attack bikes will help crack open heavy armor, and costs just a hair more then the TLLC turret upgrades.

Personally I like to put my sternguard in pods and drop em behind the enemy with some combi-meltas. Snipers and sternguard are must takes for my army now. I'd take 10 and 10 for sure for combat squading. All in all looks like my kind of list.

I find that putting sterngaurd in pods is a great way to get them killed, and considering they comprise a large portion of my cap holding capabilities, it wouldn't work to well. It does work in other lists though.

Thanks for letting me know, like i said i was basing points of the 5th ed codex and the white dwarf where the stormtalon first appeared. The attack bike does sound like a good idea though.
I agree that if your taking sterngaurd it should be for the special ammo, but having the combi melta is good insurance against an armoured vehicle their special ammo won't be able to deal with.
Would you mind giving me a list with the new points and the attack bikes factored in?
