Wanting to run an Avenger in my army, but it isn't in the faction book, so I don't know much besides the stats. From the stats, It seems to be almost perfect, besides its super slow speed. What do you guys think about the Avenger? Thanks in advance.

I don't think the kit has sold enough for it to reach popularity yet. The book released many months before the plastic kit and there are still plenty of metal centurions and hammersmiths out there. This is the reason I don't own one and I imagine the same reason many others haven't picked it up. At speed 4 and rat 4 it is not perfect, but it seems to have a solid suite of abilities to make it worth playing.
It's a pretty excellent model, at least in my opinion. Its major problem is that the Stormwall came out around the same time, and that has fulfilled the 'need' for a heavy in most lists. Given time, it'll probably find its way into more lists.

I've never seen a complaint about it. At worst I see arguments on whether to put it on a warcaster (so it can be loaded up with focus to be a melee beatstick when needed), or to marshal it to gun mages (+4 inch range on the gun? pushing tricks with a 4" AOE? Oh my).
