I ordered a couple of 7" action figures last week and they arrived today. One was Anya Stroud from Gears of War 3 ($25) and the other was Talia al-Ghul from Arkham City ($30).
A quick review:
Neither toy's hip joints allow for the leg to be raised to a 90 degree angle, making it impossible to pose them sitting or dropped to one knee. I was quite surprised by this - if a twenty year old 3.75" G.I. Joe can do it, why can't a 7" that benefits from twenty years worth of advances in toymaking?
My only other complaint about Anya Stroud is the secondary handle on the assault rifle, which appeared to be designed to fold outwards, but simply snapped off. The shoulder can move forwards and backwards in addition to the expected two degrees of freedom of the shoulder joint itself, and she has working ankle and wrist joints that make her much easier to pose.
Talia al-Ghul has far less articulation, which makes her a frustrating toy. The hips are simple swivel joints unlike Anya's ball joints, and she has no wrist, ankle or waist joint. Her knees have ratcheting joints, but not when they're completely straight. Combined with her heels, it makes it quite difficult to even get her to stand up.
Both figures look great, but I'd only recommend the GoW3 toy. My 3.75" Deadpool has better articulation than the 7" Talia, which strikes me as rather ridiculous.
