I'm thinking of adding some vypers to my allied detachment set up as Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon, Holo Field and taking 3. I already have 3 Scatter Laser/ Star Cannon War Walkers and 5 Venoms in the force and feel the vypers would compliment them nicely. What do you think?

I think Holo Fields are too expensive for Vypers considering how fragile they are (as a side note it's why imo vehicle upgrades should be a different price depending on the vehicle)

I would always rather have 3 war walkers, they're harder to kill (5+ inv compared to 5+ that can be avoided by quite a few things) Can outflank to get to where they need to be easier and there are more weapon options.

The negative of course is they're in a hotly contested spot.

I already have 3 War Walkers taking up my one HS choice so the vypers are kind of a second set of war walkers substitute. I think that works for allies but they may just be a worse choice for stock CWE.

Eldar vehicles got a huge boost in survivability thanks to the upgrade options, so by all means run those vypers! Saim-han style armies should be bappy in general.

I agree with the sentiment, when I run vypers I run them cheap. Shuriken cannon upgrade on the catapult is the only upgrade I take, and then leave the turret gun as a shuriken cannon or pay the measly points for the starcannon and then use it for infantry hunting. Like toned down rending venoms.

Well its a pricey save but it works. You could always only give 2 Vypers good guns and just give the 3rd holo. Every turn it will flat out in front of the others to let the unit milk a 3+ cover save. Its almost the same cost as a gun Vypers squad and trades just a hint of killy for twice the cover.
