I'm trying to get a slightly more competitive Wolves list together with some Guard allies, so I wrote up this. C&C and any suggestions for improvement are welcome.

So what is your general tactic or how do you plan on playing this army, are you blobbing up the guard infantry squads or are they staying separate. I would also suggest getting some plasma for the hunter squads incase they meet termies.

I dislike the idea of BS3 Plasma Guns.

Really need to know how you are planning on using the Blob though (assuming you combine squads). If you aren't putting one of the SW HQs in it they need a Commissar.

I'd also highly recommend taking a second Vendetta. I would definitely consider sacrificing a 3rd Long Fang Pack in order to take a squadron of 2 Vendetta w/ Heavy Bolters.

I was actually thinking of running the Infantry Squads separately to capture objectives and only blob them up in a KP game... in which case I'd consider running them with one of the Priests. Although that's a good point about Plasma, I should run that on the squad which the Wolf Priest is going with.

Probably worthwhile to switch out for a Lord Commissar too then.

Only the Codex: Space Wolves units will benefit from Preferred Enemy with the Wolf Priest. They'd also be the only ones benefiting from Fearless actually, except the rules for Fearless changed so just having a model with it is enough and the Wolf Priest also has Fearless on his own in addition to the Fang of Morkai.

I'd consider running two 20 man PIS blobs if I were you. Having a Rune Priest in one and a Commissar in the other wouldn't be a bad deal.

Also consider, most of the time there's only like 5 Objectives top side. Grey Hunters are durable enough that they are likely to survive till the end of the game, and the PCS will always be separate anyways (and I highly recommend making it x4 Flamers and leaving it in your Vendetta).

I'm starting to be turned on to the idea of a Primaris Psyker + Rune Priest in a 30-40 man PIS blob. Divination + Biomancy and several low AP melee attacks is an interesting thing.

Yea a lord Commissar would probably be best for a blob.

Ok I actually changed the list and tried it in a game vs the new Eldar. It was Purge the Alien, but I had one extremely lucky turn which turned things in my favour, but I liked how much Dakka the list could pump out. I went for quality rather than quantity with the Guard troops, switching them out for Veterans (not to mention that I'm getting more plasma now anyway). The Lord Commissar manned the Icarus Lascannon. Wolf Priest goes with the large Plasma GH + Termie Wolf Guard unit for preferred enemy re-rolls (they put out a lot of hurt that game). The Rune Priest went with another GH unit as well.
