I'm no longer seeing anything but a black rectangle when I should see a youtube video linked into posts

This is with a windows 7, IE10 combo (yes I know it's a horrible browser to program for but it's all I have access to on this machine)

I can see them fine on my laptop using windows 7 & chrome

It's a very recent (last 2-3 days?) issue but rolling back to the previous update (as far back as I can go) does not solve the issue so I'm guessing it may be some change that's been made to Dakka?

any chance of seeing if you can solve the problem Lego?

Try clearing your cache, in case it's perhaps a corrupt local store.

My phone blackboxes YouTube videos that aren't in the app to stop me ripping holes in my data allowance. The mobile theme might do the same, is it possible you got switched to it by the old tiny window problem? Check 'switch theme' beside 'private messages' above.

Tried clearing my cache, sadly it doesn't fix the issue

and I'm not on the mobile scheme

Dakka's not made any changes in that time frame, it must be something either on your end or at your ISP I'm afraid. I am unfamiliar with windows these days so cannot really advise easily.

Does the 'video' section of dakka have functioning videos, or are they shown with the same problem as the forum videos are?

The next step would be resetting IE to default. See if that works.

Thanks for the suggestions guys,

The video section of Dakka has the same issues

It's obviously some sort of issue with IE10 and Dakka conflicting

(Chrome on my laptop running off the same ISP works fine)

I give the 'reset' option a try Ouze and let you know what happens

I've finally got the problem sorted

I was checking what would be 'lost' if I restored IE10 to default as per your suggestion Ouze when I spotted that Dakka seemed to be running in compatibility mode

I turned that off and bingo my videos came back, phew!
