Hi all,

I would like to play a 1000pt Ork boy max squad list, but would like for a couple of mobs to come in on a flank rather than foot slog up the board. Deepstriking with a weirdboy seems just too hit & miss and risky. I thought of Kor'sarro Khan but expensive for a desperate ally.

Any one know of an ally which could confer outflank or infiltrate to the boys ?

I thought only battle brothers could do that?

The only Ork battle brothers are the Dread Mob, and that doesn't have a way to do this

I was under the impression (I could be wrong) that allies of convenience could do it. Therefore Huron leading some CSMs.

It's about as unfluffy as possible, but could creed allow a mob of boys to outflank? I'm pretty sure IG and Orks can ally

Only Battle Brothers can benefit from Warlord Traits, but for example Kor'sarro Khan confers outflank to all units in the army (not a Warlord Trait). So I would read that would be the boyz as well.

Khan doesnt fit with the boys so well though. I was hoping someone could suggest a character with a similar ability (either outflank or infiltrate) with a better fit. Even if I could outflank one mob it would be of interest

Yeah, looking at the rules, it would appear that creed can do that for you, if your interested in a not-quite as competitive as possible IG allied detachment

Khan won't work, as units have to exchange Combat Tactics to gain outflank. Since Orks don't have Combat Tactics, they don't get outflank either. Creed ought to work though.

Boss Snikrot confers Inflitrate and Ambush. He is a Ork boy but thats just his squad, any vehicles that are a part of his squad and and independent characters attached to him.

But he aint a HQ, he's just a uppgrade instead of a nob for kommandos.

He was asking for a HQ? I thought he was asking for Flanking mobs. Also a bit dangerous as you loose Boys this way Boss Zagstruk and his squad Deep Strikes. And Weird Boys with their squads have a chance for teleporta.

Yeah, they have move through cover, stikkbombs and can take burnaz for upgrades.

None of that is actually worth anything, so kommandos are outflanking boyz, assuming you don't want to infiltrate them.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

He's asking for a way to outflank a maximum sized boyz mob.

Snikrot can only outflank a unit of 5-15 Kommandoes and any attached IC. He also cannot outflank vehicles in any way. Kommandos also start with infiltrate and outflank, he simply lets them pick the table edge rather than roll for it.

Why do you want to outflank a mob anyway Whistlinbear? It's not like they can assault from outflanking anymore. I'd say look in the Necron dex, theres bound to be some OP donkey-cave who can count 'outflank any unit he likes' amongst his many many powers

Only way i see this being possible is hope you get the warlord trait to make your unit have Outflank. Its what i shoot for every time i bring bikerboss and his posse because outflanking with that group is just SCAAAARRRYYY

However its a 1/6 chance. Dont bet your list on it, bet on it helping tremendously but being able to function without it. Unless you were going solid green tide thus have the bodies to footslog it, if you didnt get the Outflank warlord trait those boyz would be screwed.
EDIT: And even if you did get it, theres a good chance those 30 boyz + boss will be on their own unless they came in turn 3 and be focused fired to hell and back. If not for the Warlord kill, i'd say cool because it doesnt push your tide back ... but losing warlord for that is not worht it

On Creed as an ally:

Why not have the Orks as the Ally? You can still field 30 Boyz, a Bike Boss with 12 WarBikers, 10 troop Nobz in a dedicated Battlewagon, and 15 Burna Boyz in another BW starting in the deployment zone. Even with the Ally FOC restrictions, the options to get a large number of Orks to Outflank are ridiculous.

I don't write the rules. My ego just lives and dies by them one model at a time.

@tgjensen
Thanks for the correction. Missed the BIG BOLD PRINT re exchange combat tactics :-) Yup Khan's a no go for the boyz

@dakkamite
I was just looking for a way for the boyz to be a bit less predicable for my opponent, particularly for mass objective games. Even though outflankers can't assault, they don't clump and risk mishap like DS (although 60 boys in reserve exposes the rest of the army to focus fire so not totally without risk)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Back to the drawing board for me
