Tau Commander entry says they can take up to 4 ranged weapons and/or support systems. It also says it can take Signature Systems. My question is, do Signature Systems count towards that initial 4 weapon/support system limit?

Yes they do when it's listed in the same bullet denoting number and type I.e. basic crisis suits. In the case of Commanders, no because they're listed as a separate option without a limit on the number.

It depends on the model. For some (like Crisis suits) it counts. For others (such as Commanders) it does not.

For the commander it does not.

The line giving you permission to take signature system is in a completely different bullet point then the one stating it can take four weapon and/or support systems. That one line does not state how many individual systems you can take, but simply states items, as in more then one. With no limit on the max number you an take, and permission to take more then one, you may have as many as you want as long as you do not duplicate them. Compare this to the elite crisis suit unit, where the Shas'vre can take a set number of all three systems.

If it wanted you to be limited to a number of signiture systems, for the commander, then they would of either had included it in the 'four of these' line like they did the Crisis Shas'vre or stated outright a max number on that line.

A signature system is not a weapon system or a support system. A commander can take up to 4 items from the weapons systems and support systems lists. There is no limit on the signature systems (apart from only being able to take one of each in an army).

Look at how they're listed I the options in the unit entry in the army list

It states that a commander and body guards may take signature system"s" and is stated separately from the weapon and support line.

its in the same way our tanks may take item"s" from the vehicle table.

Thank you everyone, I figured as much but just wanted to make sure I was not writing an ilegal army list or anything...I was giving my Commander 4 support systems and like 3 Signature systems.
