I'm just curious how often Game Workshops updates (mostly increases) their prices, I was checking the model section a few days ago and I could swear that the prices spiked at least a good 15-20% from when I looked at them last week.

I know they have that disclaimer on their site that their "prices are subject to change" and blah blah, but how do they actually change them? And when they do change them, do they ever decrease rather then increase (a lot of "youthful optimism" in that last part, but meh... )?

1. Are you sure you're looking at the right country?

2. GW increases its prices once per year, in line with inflation. And if you believe that I have this friend over in Nigeria who wants to talk with you.

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

GW's yearly price increase has hit in May/June traditionally, but was different this year. This time around, paints and painting supplies went up in price, but models stayed the same, thankfully. New releases have often been coming out at a raised price point though, like the Deathwing Terminator box set which costs $60 compared to the $50 of a standard Terminator box or a Wolf Guard Terminator set. It's honestly a hell of a kit so I don't mind all that much, but it's generally been subtle like that. Conversely, Dire Avengers were repackaged into a 5 man box that costs as much as the previous 10 man box.

If you're noticing a price rise on something other than this, you likely have the wrong country checked in your browser. This happens randomly with some people. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the prices on some items only to see I was Australian for whatever reason.

If it's double it thinks you're in Aus, if it's ~20% it thinks you're in Canada.

From what I've noticed, they've gone up a bit every 2ish years, it feels like its quicker lately but I'm pretty sure its just because I take more notice of it. In terms of accessory things though, those have been pretty consistent. Ages back a paint was $6 (NZD that is) and now they're $6.50. So thats not much for about the 6-7 years I can remember. Model kits have gone up a bit though, now hitting $73 for a TAC squad but meh, I can just get it from America like Australians do.
