Subject: Playing a Fallen Angels army using Chaos Marines with Dark Angels Allies?

Hey there, i recently got back into warhammer after a two or so year hiatus, and have started up playing chaos again. this time around i want to run a Fallen army with the fluff that they're a small sect of fallen that banded together and found the glory of lord Tzeentch and the gifts of the chaos gods.
the way i would like to do that is to run a small chaos list with allied units of dark angels "counting as" fallen.
now i know the allies table says that they cannot ally up but im wondering if this would be possible at all, as i really feel that would be a proper way to represent the fallen.
anyone have any thoughts or ideas as to how i could pull it off, or know of any way i could use the DA as allies for my CSM?

There is no legal way of using DA as allies of CSM if the book prevents it.
You can always ask a player if they'd be willing to though. Just don't expect everyone to be on board with it, and don't expect to be able to for tournament play.

Plus, it doesn't really fit into the 40k universe. Dark Angels aren't dropping off the Imperium anymore, they are fighting to get them back before anyone finds out.

I understand this, but does it not make sense that there at least COULD be a small band of them that have been together and secretly and slowly sweeping their way across the universe?
also i know that some players would be ok with it, but i am trying to make a solid, legal list, and i just feel that that would be the best way to run fallen!
i mean, it makes sense theyd have similar wargear and access to similar things(like a few deathwing, a few ravenwing, land speeders, etc) obviously would not be using any of the characters, mainly just tac squads and termies. i just also want to be able to give my tac marines Plasma cannons etc.
i guess i just have to go the "looks as, counts as" way, and play it all chaos...thanks for the input though guys!

Whats wrong with regular chaos marines painted like fallen?
You could just convert dark angel stuff chaosy or vice versa and use chaos rules.

This is probably the best way to go about it. Use whatever paint scheme you feel like; stick nasty bits on DA marines; buy a normal LR and paint it in Tzeentch colours. Come up with an interesting back story for you Fallen, and how evil they are. Then use either the CSM or the DA rules (not both).

Thanks guys, Im definitely going to have to go about it just using the chaos rules and painting some dark angels figures and doing my conversions as i have already begun with my DV box.
just wish i could use plasma cannons on my marines and termies!
also if my local store/players allow it im going to use the Spanish GW's "proxy rules" for Cypher and run him with the list!
the whole theme of the army is Fallen who were "convinced" by a great daemon prince of Tzeentch(named Ob'ama, Herald of Change =P) to rally together and fight the forces of the false emperor.
and slowly they began to be taken over by the warp(as they frequently are traveling through it to evade large forces of the unforgiven, except on occasion when enough of the force has mustered together to try and wither away at the ranks of the Dark Angels.
Going to run a dark apostle in the army as well who will be a major fallen character from one of the many books on the DA, still have to decide which fallen interrogator-chaplain though, or i may just make new fluff for him altogether.
Also considering adding some Necron Allies, i can figure a fluff reason out later, but i just love how cheesy necrons are and have always wanted to play with them but couldnt see myself committing to playing a full army of them.
what's everyone's thoughts on that? maybe Imotehk and some wraiths or something.

Necrons with a fallen army... Really? Originally your post was good & I was thinking, could be cool. Then you mentioned allying necrons. Oh well good thing this hobby lets us do whatever practically.

as i stated i was CONSIDERING allying them, and no not with fallen with CHAOS that has already "corrupted" some fallen coincidentally.
part of the reason i asked for thoughts on the necron thing is i am UNSURE about it...and will probably not end up doing so.
but as fluff goes, the army is originally a very small force of change lead by a daemon prince, who decided that utilizing the fallen's hated, and corruptable nature, would be to Tzeentch's advantage.
i mean i guess it makes sense they wouldnt have need for any other allies as they already have a pretty strong one. i just dont see why it wouldnt make sense that Tzeentch would "corrupt" others to help further his goals. but i mean i guess youre right, that is kind of silly. thank you for the input. and thank you for saying you like my army concept. ive been working out the fluff details for a little while now and i really enjoy this theme.
the way the fallen succumbed to Tzeentch's will was perhaps that the daemon prince offered them "true redemption in the eyes of the unforgiven and the emperor" by means of the lord of change...and they believed him, only to find out that Tzeentch twists words around to his own advantage.
he never said WHEN, theyd be redeemed or HOW. and thus is the way i feel tzeentch works. as TRUE Chaos should.
Was reading a large discussion on here about whether or not Tzeentch is truly "evil" and id say not necessarily "evil" but indeed the one TRUE god of CHAOS.
