This isent so much an amazeballs pathfinder tactica but more on how i plan to use my pathfinders and Darkstrider, and i appreciate your thoughts and feed back

So first off heres the unit composition

- 10 pathfiners
- Shas'ui
- 3 rail rifles
- Devil fish transport
- Darksrtider
- Pulse accelerator drone

So first off they will actually start the game in reserve, and make use of Darkstriders outflank special rule to hit the enemy from behind. then the Devilfish moves 12 in and trys to obscure itself with some cover. Next turn it pops out another six then the team deploys from behind taking advantage of them being able to shoot through it but still recieving a 4+ from enemy fire. Then instead of using them simply to mark targets instead i plan on using my Pathfinders as a fire support team, the pluse accelerator drone gives them +6 inches on there carbines meaning that there range 24, and then Darkstrider makes any unit he targets -1 to toughness.

So they sit there pinning units down and slowing down the enemies advance or just whittling away other Units or shooting light infantry off objectives. Then if anything gets to close i can just run away in my devilfish or if i cant run Darkstriders fighting retreat special rule means that after i fire overwatch the unit he is with may run d6 inches backwards, that is an epic troll.

Then if nothing needs to be shot at i can then mark enemy targets for the rest of the Cadre its still a method in practice but Pathfinders are my favorite 40k unit and with the new codex they have become so much more than markerlights, they are so much more versitile and can really support the rest of the army in even newer ways now! please let me know your thoughts thanks guys.

What's Darkstrider's outflank rule? The pathfinders already had outflank since they're scouts. That and if I understand your deployment right, your plan is to put them in reserve and keep them in a devilfish for another turn on top of that. You're better off just using them with the scout move if you're using the devilfish for protection anyways. Also no real need for the Shas'ui if you're bringing an expensive HQ for the unit.

What point value where you planning on running this in because I just ran the numbers and it's 360 points for the unit. That's pretty insane for 11 majority T3, 5+, BS3 units. You're going to have trouble fitting in support units and combat units in with a huge points sink like that.

I'm somewhat against pathfinders as front line troops because they are very expensive for BS3 units. If I were to take them I'd either lose the drone or lose the rifles. No point racking up the points if it's not benefiting the entire squad. I'd probably also just lose the devilfish since it shouldn't be difficult to find intervening terrain when you're outflanking. Putting Darkstrider in the unit makes it a very juicy target since you're putting in an expensive HQ inside a very soft unit that will be drawing a lot of small arms fire. I'd suggest 10 pathfinders and darkstrider with the PAD and it will come out to 225, still pricey but it's 135 points cheaper than the original list and that's 2 units of 6 pathfinders for support.

Another idea is to just run the unit behind an ADL with an Icarus Lascannon since it allows Darkstrider to one-shot T5 FMC and the like. 36" range markers and 30" range rail rifles won't have problems finding targets or having support units to help protect them.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

i have my list already its in the army list section and its planned for 2000 points, and your right about the Shas'ui that is pretty pointless

mhmm your kinda taking away from my theme because i love pathfinders so much and its almost a fluffy thing to be honest, my whole point of Accelerator drone is they can be an effective combat unit also, but perhaps i will drop the devilfish but i also wanted them to be able to re deploy if any nasties got to close.

Also i dont take any fortifications as i would rather spend the points of another units, if you can look up my Army list perhaps you could understand there role a little better?
