Hello. I'm thinking of using Ahriman in upcoming tournament and I'd like to ask you few questions. I know you will say that ML3 sorc is better but i want Ahriman.
How do you use him?
You go for Dakkariman or Bio-Ahriman?
You use cultis to screen him? Marines? Termies?Spawns!?
What's best unit to infiltrate via his trait? I bet that some plagues or chosen with plasmas but are there any alternatives?
Also I know that it comes into 40k Lists but could you post a example of some cool list?

Infiltrating 20 CSM with bolters to mid-field for quick firepower or maybe even 40 CSM... Noise are a more killy alternative for the points.

Ahriman is good with a shoot unit. My friend runs him with 2 obliterators doing some serious damage.

Infiltrate 9 Terminators up your opponents face.
Put Ahriman in a rhino with 9 Thousand Sons, get Tzeench and Biomancy's primaris. Hope for Enfeeble and Endurance.
Use a big cultist blob to screen Ahriman's squad.

With Ahriman I either roll on the telepathy table and hope for Invisibility. Cast that on a big 35 man infiltrating squad of cultists to run as distraction/ use them as a CC steamroller over dakka-focused armies.

Or, I use Pyromancy and run him with a 1k sons squad in a rhino. That can put out a lot of firepower at a close range.

My 2000 pt 1k sons list looks like this:

Dark Apostle: Mark of Khorne, Axe of Blind Fury

My favorite units to infiltrate with ahriman (or huron or a random lord that rolls this warlord trait): (in no particular order)
-a squad of terminators in their dedicated transport (a land raider)
-the three exalted alluresses from an exalted seeker cavalcade (the exalted alluress' are infantry so I can do it hehe) from my allied daemon detachment
-exalted flamer from a burning chariot of tzeentch from my allied daemon detachment (again the guy in it is infantry) this is the only time I have ever been able to get any value out of this too as it starts in range of its ap 3 torrent weapon.
-20 man blob of plague marines
-20 blob of noise marines with 17 sonic blasters, 2 blasmasters, a doom siren, and feel no pain.
-Farsight's bodyguard from my allied tau detachment (I did it once because the look on my opponent's face was funny and it was a friendly game, but really it was way too many points tied up in doing it) (farsight did not deploy with them)
-The shielded missile drones and their accompanying riptide from my allied tau detachment. (the kroot from the same detachment used their own ability to infiltrate and support this, so it wasn't alone)

Thanks for replies. 20 man Plague squad knocked me off. I'm leaning toward infitrating 20 normal marines maybe with some additional weapons.

Tzeentch Veteran Marine with Psychic Potential

I usually go 1 Tzeentch, if Doombolt or Breath of Chaos keep it, otherwise Tzeentch's Firestorm.

Then 1 Telepathy, hope for Invisibility, if not get Psychic Shriek.

Then 2 Biomancy hope for Iron Arm, Endurance or Enfeeble. Get Smite. His BS5 is nice for that.


I run him in a rhino with 9 Thousand Sons. Pile out, rapid fire and his psychic powers usually deletes anything they can get in range of. I use the infiltrate on a unit of Terminators. If I get more than one infiltrating unit I'll usually use it on Ahriman's rhino to get in a better position, especially if I deploy first so I can see their deployment before putting him down.

Getting invisibility is really nice since with smoke you can get a rhino with a 2+ cover save. Also helps a ton if you get into close combat.
