I have been working with CSM blobs units and trying to come up with a competitive build for CSM. A 2500 point wanna be ard' boys tournament is being held at my FLGS and I have come up with a list, then is looking for comments and concerns. I have a Khorne army with every painted red... so I know plague marines are great but I want to have a fluffy army... but not really, Haha. If that makes sense.
Some of you guys have been talking to me on the tactics forum about the CSM blob tactics and wargear, so let me know if the CSM have synergy with rest of the army.
Here is the list:
HQ:
Huron-160
Elites:
None
Troops: (Not full size blobs, but tweeking could fix that, also inspired by khorne number)
16 CSM including champ with 2 flamers and IoV - 283
16 CSM including champ with 2 flamers and IoV - 283
FA:
Helldrake- 170
Helldrake- 170
HS-
2 MoN Obliterators-152
2 MoN Obliterators-152
2 MoN Obliterators-152
Allied Forces:
HQ:
Bloodthrister= 290
Troops:
16 BL including Blood Reaper with greater reward-185
16 BL including Blood Reaper with greater reward-185
FA:
16 Hounds-256
Total:
2483, I think...
Tactical Rundown:
Huron will roll for infiltrate x amounts of units to mid-field, best result being all CSM and himself. Obliterators are... well obliterators, they will more than like walk up the board and shoot, rarely deep-strike. HD, are Helldrakes. The daemons come into play for fast threats, flanking, hopefully early deep-strike threats, and they fit my playstyle. The BT and Hounds will be regularly deployed to get up the board fast and hit hard, BL deep-strike front lines with them hopefully.
The daemons fit my play-style and I think if played correct can be very competitive. As you can see I am shooting for a khorne army, but its not too strict of a fluffy list.
Please give all your comments and concerns about the list, I am open for drastic changes.
Thanks guys!
