I'm still relatively new, with few games under my belt. So, to help streamline my game I've decided to make up a cheat sheet of sorts to slip into the cover of my gaming binder. My biggest thing was remembering what I need to roll to wound and hit. So, I've put the To Wound table on it, and the formula for To Hit. I also think I'll make notes on the rolls necessary for psyker, leadership, and terrain rolls (though the last hasn't really been an issue as yet). Can anyone suggest further information that may be helpful in my situation?

I think I'll also be making one specifically for my Space Wolves with stat lines, and explanations of special rules, and powers to help minimize time spent flipping through books instead of playing and ruining the immersion.

That isn't a bad idea, I have a similar thing for another game I play since I'm just starting out. It really helps to have all your special rules in one place

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Vehicle Damage results are really handy, and I constantly forget them.

The movement/turboboost measurements for vehicles is useful. Also stuff like charge ranges and how terrain affects them.

I also find the rules surrounding morale and leadership difficult to remember, perhaps they might be worthy.

I used to have this. It was really really handy. It's a great idea when your first diving in!

Whenever i go to play at my FLGS i have a printed version of my list. Usually on a second page i´ve got the to hit/to wound chart [altough that´s not that neccessary anymore] and for every unit I am new to i have its stats, equipment, weapons range and special rules with explanations. E.g Logan Grimnar grants relentless [relentless= move & shoot & assault]
This helps a lot and I don´t forget about some cool stuff.

When the Daemons came out in 5th(?) I photocopied everything and cut all the info out and realigned the codex.

Turned into 3 pages.

Another thing you can do is just add tabs to the pages in your rulebook. That's what I did to my Blood Angel and Space Wolf codexes.

Great idea.

The best part of typing this sort of thing out for yourself is that it will stick in the memory.

I have written my complete codex out with the specific detail on all special rules for each character and its really helped me learn the special rules better.

I have a cheat sheet that has each phase lined out so that I don't forget to do something, and I've added in all my army's special rules and when they should be used.

It goes something like
1) Movement.
- Before movement:
Roll for reserves (Any modifiers in the army today?)
Psychic power?
....
....

2) Shooting.
----

And so on and so forth. It really helps you remember those things that you otherwise go "oh right, I should have... but that has to be done before moving. Dammit."

My group usually forgives stuff like that, but it's still better to do it according to the rules.

At one point I made cheat sheets for units. I gathered all the rules that they had in one place, to prevent flipping through books. So the scout page had the infiltrate and scouts rules from the main book, as well as ATSKNF and combat tactics from the codex. Also gun rules, like sniper, pinning, rending, etc... I never finished the project of making them for every unit, but got the scouts and terminators. They have the most wacky rules and info stuffed in odd places anyway.

Yeah, the Dark Vengeance set came with a handy reference chart that had movements, to hits, to wound and to penetrate charts on it. Pretty slick. I actually have two copies of it for some reason, so if you are ever in central illinois come on by and il give it to you.

Someone made a nice PDF with 4 pages that was the perfect cheat-sheet.
I will try to see if I can find it again.

I would add in vehicle damage charts, as well as movement for vehicles (and how many weapons they can shoot). Morale stuff might be useful as well and any other USRs you forget.

Also add in some flyer things (especially rules on FMCs) if you face them regularly.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I thought this was going to be a quick easy bit of data entry, but my Excel Fu is lacking, and formatting is challenging. I had hoped to keep it to one page, but it doesn't look like it'll quite be possible. Hopefully I can keep it to two for the general cheat sheet. On one, I've got the To Wound, To Hit (melee) charts, To Hit (shooting) chart, and Leadership/Morale/Psychic test rule on one. Sheet one is pretty full as a result. I think sheet 2 will have to be the Moving during the shooting phase chart, and vehicle related charts. That should do it for general rules I think.

It may be easier to do it in another program, I dunno. Word will probably work fine for the army specific sheet.
