Hi guys, I know that taking a Spiritseer allows you to take Wraitguard/blades as Troops, but can you chose to take them as Elites as in the codex it says they are Troops choices rather than Elites as I would like to take 2 units of guards as troops and a unit of blades as elites.
Cheers.

No, they're either all Troops or all Elites, they cannot be a mix.

Actually, you don't even get a choice in the matter if you have a spirit seer. Codex states "if your army contains a spiritseer, wraithblade and wraithguard units are troops choices rather than elites"

So if you have a spiritseer you cannot take wraithguard or wraithblades as elites choices at all.

Ah, yes, that's what I meant, guess I should have said:
No, they're either all Troops or all Elites depending on whether or not you have a Spiritseer included in your army, they cannot be a mix.

Sorry if that was unclear.

How many points are you playing? I mean, a unit of Wraithguard with a ride is running you 300 points. (+/-)

Having them count as scoring is kinda good.

Yeah I can't really imagine why you'd want them as Elite!

Four other Troops units in a sub-2000 point game, perhaps? It's doable, if a little odd.
But if that's the case, you could drop the Spiritseer to put all 3 units back into Elites.

Thanks guys, the way I expected it but wondered how other people thought it should have been because I don't think I have seen a must be taken as when something moves units around the FoC.

Page 95, under the Spiritseer entry "Death Speaker".

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

KingCameron,
Please create a new Thread instead of practicing Necromancy on a thread almost a year old, even if the question is related, as it messes up the bookkeeping or something. I don't mean to sound angry or mean, but it is more preferred to have a thread created anew then to pull the old ones out of the Archive and no one will be upset if you ask a question that has been answered prior. Well they might, but that is only for a certain number of questions which always spawn at least a dozen pages of round about arguments every time they are brought up, which often have at least one thread floating on the first few page as they always get asked at least once a month.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

We all start somewhere and we all have made some faux pas at some point in time, on these very boards.
As for the Emperor, why not join the Greater Good and never have to fear him again?
