I am considering adding a Vauls Wrath support battery to my Eldar army eventually. I think I am going to rule out d cannons as they are too short ranged while also being immobile if I want to fire. Vibro cannons don't seem to be worth it as they only inflict one hit per weapon firing (unless I have missed something). Therefore I am thinking that shadow weavers may well be the way forward. Long range, barrage, templates and the monofilament rule. Opinions please, fellow Eldar generals!

I've played with 2x3 units of Shadow Weavers so far and have really liked them. They compare favorably to a Thunderfire Cannon, which is a good unit it its own right. They have easily been worth the 180 points in my experience thus far.

Thanks for that JGrand. I am definately thinking 3 shadow weavers + a warlock now.
Now just to get the £45 together to buy them...

You may not like the D-cannons, but they do a very important job. They are usually considered such a big threat that the opponent sends most of his powerful guns at it. They are also very durable, so they will survive a lot behind an aegis. I run three d-cannons, and usually have them look over an objective. The opponent will either stay away from the 24" bubble of the d-cannon or waste so much shooting at them that the rest of my army is free. They do a great job at area denial and I believe a worth the points.

I agree D-Cannon is lower due to its range and cost. You want to be firing, not moving or sitting, with models that cost 55 points a shot. I think you're underestimating the Vibro Cannon a bit. The two weapons serve different purposes, and with Prescience/Guide having 3 S9 AP2 hits wouldn't be uncommon (70%), which could put a real hurting on elite infantry or vehicles. Shadow Weaver is more focused against light infantry / light vehicles, and only a few hits will pierce armour saves. Shadow Weaver does have the Barrage sniping advantage, but you need a 6 to wound for a real kick. I think which to pick is more dependent on the rest of your list than on the weapons themselves. Fill the gap. So the real answer is - magnetize! Edit: In other threads people have mentioned no-LOS with Barrage. I don't think it's that great. If I have a T7 unit on the table, I want my opponent to try and shoot at it. Especially with some ablative wounds in the front (sorry guardians, I only need one of you per gun).

Cheap, effective barrage is always good. Tack on a few special rules and you got yourself a winner.
The real question is whether or not its worth a slot where you can take more Warwalkers.
Personally, I'd find room for a single unit of 3 Shadow Weavers, alongside 2 units of 3 Warwalkers.

Good point Quark. What size magnets would be needed do you think?

I haven't worked with a Support Battery yet, but this video shows a pretty stable connection (I didn't listen, just spot checked): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8eWj_vi8wE

For arms on an infantry mini, I use 1/16" x 3/32". I've never built any Eldar artillery, but my guess would be the 1/8" x 1/16".

You actually don't have to magnetise, the guns sit and swap out well without.
