Subject: starting Eldar, need some advice...

Hey all
While I call them Panzy Gitz a lot when I charge them with my Ork Kaptain, I've always had a little soft spot for the Eldar, and when the new codex came out and when I finished the campaign for them on DOW2 I simply had to pick them up. I've settled on Alaitoc for the craftworld and now need a shopping list for the summer.
this is where I need help the most - I have no idea what to get! I've got the old codex so I know the basis of an Eldar army, but I haven't got a clue about the new rules. I don't like the idea of the battle force due to the vyper and the wave serpent - in my mind guardians seem to be more defensive than offensive and probably wouldn't need a transport, so something like a falcon appeals more to me. I could be wrong, hence why I have posted - all advice and comments are greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the pointy ears.
Well, the Serpent is the best gun boat (and transport) in the game - much better than the Falcon. The new codex made it possible. So I'd consider a few Serpents and some Rangers if you want to go the route of Alaitoc.

Alaitoc should have a low reliance on guardians. They have the highest number of exarchs and thus aspect shrines of any craftworld. Wave Serpents are fantastic, and you should use them to get Dire avengers into position.
All varieties of vehicle would be good, War Walkers are amazing. Skyfire optional on Missle launchers plus 4+ invul save standard.
As said, rangers are fluffy. Basicly Alaitoc can field anything and be fluffy.

I like your take on Alaitoc. I chose them mainly because of DOW, but also because I don't have a big collection of reds, don't like painting black, suck at painting white and generally cringe at any other bright colour
in any case thanks a lot! I also love the idea of a farseer in my army - I've never played pskers and I they look like a lot of fun. will they be any use on the table though or should I stick to using one for fun games?
(also thanks for the advice wuestenfux. )

If you are really going down the fluffy route of Alaitoc, Rangers and Aspects are probably the best way to go as they are described as having a lot of both.
Also an Autarch with the ROG Sniper rifle or Illic.
