Maybe it's the sign of the Emperor?

Weren't the Emperor's Children the only legion to ever bear the Imperial Eagle?

That's strange; one of the Emperor's Children's greatest boasts was that they alone among the legions had the honor and privilege to wear the Emperor's emblem.


I think they were the first to do so. Later on everyone had the emblem built into their armor.
Oh I see, everyone got the Aquila after the heresy. Before and during it was just the EC.
