Wraithblades are just ace looking models but if you want battlefield effectiveness you can't beat wraithguard.

You didn't make a "Both" option.
They're the same unit with different weapons.
So you should have put:
Wraithguard
Wraithguard with D-scythes
Wraithblades
Wraithblades with axes and sheilds
Both
Neither

Depends. In a pure Wraith army, Wraithblades are useless in my experience. They don't have a good delivery method and they can't just march up. Wraithcannons and D-Scythes can be useful on the turn they get in range or get out of a transport. In a mixed list, they all have their place. Especially in a footdar list, the melee units can be brutal acting as a shield and marching along with other units. Guard are actually slightly less useful in a pure foot list, but stilll nice.

I'll be trying out a single unit of Blades with swords with my Iyanden army. The idea is to have all Wraiths move up aggressively (without transports at first to see how it works, as I really don't like Serpents) and use Battle Focus from Seers to keep the units mobile, whilst also relying on overwatch from D-Scythes (or the threat of it!) to keep out of assault. The unit of Blades sits just behind the others ready to charge in and break a unit out of combat if they DO get stuck, and of course they can make a last minute push for objectives as well.
Mind you, it remains to be seen if this will actually work, so I won't flat-out say you're wrong JUST yet.

I am thinking of 10 Wraithguard with d cannons on foot, 5 with d scythes in a serpent and maybe 10 with axes/forceshields on foot.
I am a bit wary of 10 expensive models with no shooting attacks walking up the board though. They might be resilient, but they are not invincible by a long shot.

I like the idea of wraithblades with axes and a 4++.
Then fortuning them.
While bowling 5 wraithguard with d-scythes up in a wave serpent.

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives. |

Curious question - why have units of 10? Do you have other Troops units to squeeze in as well? Considering how tough they are there's not too much worry about giving away extra kill points and they'll make up for even that by being able to push for and claim/contest more objectives.
...or are you not taking a Spiritseer...?

Well, I'd opt for Wraithguard in a semi-mech or mech army. The D-scythes are absolutely brutal, also in case when the unit is being charged.

WG with Scythes are fantastic.
They have to be avoided at all costs by anything with a toughness value.
Even their short range isn't an issue, as you can either put them in a Wave Serpent (which I have tested and disliked - not enough points for more Wraiths) or run them with an Iyanden Spiritseer (Much better and less points so you can have more stuff).
Blades with... Blades are really good, especially as a delivery system for Asurmen or Yriel. Only downside is that they need to get there.
Cannon WG are a staple and you should take at least 1 unit.
Axe WB are not great. Not enough attacks.
