I've been trying to put together a Nurgle Chaos Marines list for the passed month and have been looking for opinions from more seasoned players than I.
Here is my list

HQ
Typhus 230

Troop
Chaos Space Marines (10 units, Lascannon, Plasma gun, Mark of Nurgle, Icon of Vengence, Rhino w/ Havoc) 277
Chaos Space Marines (10 units, Lascannon, Plasma gun, Mark of Nurgle, Icon of Vengence, Rhino w/ Havoc) 277
Plague Marines (5units, 2 Plasma gun, Rhino w/ Havoc) 221
Plague Marines (5units, 2 Plasma gun, Rhino w/ Havoc) 221

Fast
Heldrake (Baleflamer) 170
Heldrake (Baleflamer) 170
Heldrake (Baleflamer) 170

Heavy
Predator (Autocannon, Heavy Bolter sponsons, Havoc) 107
Obliterators (2 units, Mark of Nurgle) 152

The goal is to be aggressive with the obliteratos and the heldrakes while using the predator and the CSM squads as mid to long range support and camp typhus and/or the plague marines on objectives.
Ive also thought about tossing one of the CSM squads out for another plague marine squad and maybe trying to squeeze another oblit in somehow

3 Heldrakes in your list will definitely make you some friends.

4000ish points of mixed regiment and abhuman IG
3000ish points of Blood Angels
2000ish points of Tau
2000ish points of Space Wolves

Most people I've talked to say that if I'm not runing 3 heldrakes at 2k points I'm not going to be up to snuff

Well I always run at least 2 helldrakes for non-competitive and competitive games, for competitive tournament I consider 3. For casual play, I wound't bring 3. The first time I did, people got pissed because it is just a casual game and you don't want to table people turn 4... Haha.

I always bring 2, it not unkillable and is very fun for non-competitive play.

You may want to have some zombies with typhus in the list, maybe replace one CSm squad with a big zombie unit.

If you're not running zombies, bring a nurgle lord. He's cheaper than typhus and opens you up to more options. I find three drakes overkill myself. You definitely need two though.otherwise good list!

I just looked at the points, i can do 50 zombies and stay under 2k if i replace one CSM squad, should i run one huge unit or do 2 squads of 25

2 squads of 25 zombies is the way to go. Very survivable, hard to get off an objective, and will hold almost any deathstar unit inan assault for mmost of the game. They also bring the numbers, as your list seems to more on pumped up elite squads.
3 drakes is a bot unnecessary, 2 is plenty, use the 170 points ona couple of standard preds...

"I've got three Helldrakes. Who wants to play me?"
"No thanks."

I'd say drop one Helldrake. Use the points for two big units of plague zombies and another Oblit. If you need more points to do it, then drop an icon of Vengence (or two). After all, 25 points to be fearless when, honestly, how often do you fail a morale check?

All of these people sound butthurt. Run 3 Helldrakes if you think it sounds fun to you.

While three hellturkeys may be a lot, as long as its someone preparing for a tourney or your in a tourney then it should be fine since at 2000pts they should be prepared to face this much. Even in a friendly game, if the opponent gets grouchy over a unit you can legally bring then he should not be playing. Yes while I would hate to play this in a friendly game, the future is a dark place where there is only war... I just may not win this war going against those turkeys lol. This list looks to try to be competitive though, so I think it is a very strong list, but still not an auto win list. Therre are still ways around this list

Im looking to build a strong friendly list right now that I can easily turn competative in the future.
How does this look for a more friendly list

total 1984

Use the heldrakes aggressively with the predators throwing down support fire, plop the Plague marines on objectives with their rhinos, use the CSM squads to push forward objectives from mid to long range and send typhus in with the zombies to tarpit or use zombies as meatshields for the plague marines if needed.

You absolutely should run 3 helldrakes if you want to. Just don't be surprised in no one want's to play a "friendly" game with you. Look at it this way, I drive 45 minutes to the game store, and I have a choice; I can play that Ork player who I know has a tough list, but that I have beaten in the past or I can spend 1 hour setting up the board and forces rolling for mission type etc just to watch 25 of my marines go up in smoke on turn 2 and another 10 on turn 3. Then I've just got to handle the frustration for another 3 turns while you roll dice and I remove my models.

It's not that 3 Helldrakes is illegal. They're just fine. But I know how that game turns out and I'd rather play a FUN game against the Orks. The game isn't fun if you have no chance of winning. Against a 3 Helldrake list, I've got no chance of winning.

I think this is already a great list BOTH for friendly games AND for competition.

Seriously? I have a drake and I sometimes get to proxy 2 more only to watch them fail invul save and crash after the turn they come in. Anything with skyfire S6 or higher gets really lucky to shoot my drakes down. Hell even foot crons did it and so did psychic nids.

List looks good. I take heldrakes for AA primarily as I feel paying for the flak option is a bit pricey, the flamer is the icing on the cake though.
