Got a new webcam, so I'm posting what I've taken. I've also started using wash since my original pictures of my orks.

The skin colours are looking much better than the original on the Big shoota. cant say without a comparision of the slugga boy. But you have a filthier looking ork boy that isnt made of solid colours I also really like the colour of the trousers. Matches the backpack, but the shading/wash has sat nicely in the folds.
I would also say that the colouration on the big shoota looks considerably better. Its got a nice dirty rust colour going on that always sits well on orkies The backpack (from what i can see on the old photo) looks a lot less of a solid colour - a good thing. It has a nice deep red that I think suits

Can I ask:
  • What wash/s do you have?
  • do you have many paints? or just a basic set of colours. IE - are you mixing colours or simply using another pot?

  • Places for touch ups/ future improvements:
The blue on the weapon looks a little too faded imo. I think with another pass of the original or similar blue as a layer, follwed by another wash (perhaps slightly thinned) would really bring it out.
There also seem a few blotchy points on your washes. This is just practice and continued use perhaps try using 2 thinned washed instead of 1 thicker wash, as this gives you a better coverage that you can build up till your happy
A few little touch ups around the lips to remove the slight white on the skin.
OH AND BASE HIM! some sand or general rocks would complete him imo.

Just my thoughts, hope they help and keep the pictures coming

I use Agrax Earthshade from Citadel Paints for Washing. To paint the model:
    Leadbelcher for the metal
Mournfang Brown for the pants, upper body straps and Big Shoota's backpack.
    Mephisto Red for the eyes.
A mix of Mourfang Brown and Leadbelcher for the bronze color on the Big Shoota's gun.
For the Ork Skin, I use a dark green paint, can't find the box with the color name right now, that came in a Paint Set my grandma bought for me.
For the blue, I use two different blues, a darker one for the skin and a lighter one for the armour and weapons, they came in the same set as the dark green.

My paints I have are the paints from the Dark Angels Starter Paint Set and the Paint Set my grandma bought me from Walmart, both paints work just as good, the Walmart paints being cheaper in price and needing a bit more water than the Citadel ones do.

Ah ok! I really like the use of the brown and leadbelcher. Thats not something ive thought about doing but I will definitely have to give it a go I think. I really like the effect. Can I suggest a couple washes? If possible i'd pick up a nuln oil (black) and biel -tan green.

The nuln oil works really well with almost any colours, gives a nice darkening effect and if you follow it up with a layer of the original colour; but without going fully to the edges you can still have a vibrant/strong colour.

What is your method for painting the skin? Currently what I do is, base coat in a yellow or a bright blue. 2 washes in biel-tan green. I have dark angles green but I dont actually ever use it for the skin. I find that with a yellow base coat and 2 washes applied I get a nice shade of green thats quite bright green/yellow at the raised parts and dark green in the recesses. The blue does something similar except more of a turquoise look. I will be putting up a pick at some point this weekend il link you or post one here

I prime the model in grey, then go over the skin with my dark green paint and then I applied the wash. I rarely use more than 3 layers of paint on a model.
