Last nights project was a Predator I got for my birthday, I couldnt stomach putting a more expensive heresy era Predator on my list so I got the stock GW pattern instead, my fondness for painting tanks in gthe past was somethign that really was found to be lacking. fortunately I set myself to build the tank yesterday morning and painting last night/this morning to see if I found it any easier/better. I actually really enjoyed painting the tank in the end, having come from doing my eldar and painting a million and one soulstones the more blocky shape of the tank was a pleasant relief.

Here's the finished tank:

Nice colour scheme, bit of a shame it wasn't a pre-heresy Pred though :c

I would be proud if my sons of Horus came out half as good as this...

Cheers guys, I may pick up a few heresy era vehicles when I am in a better state financially. Unfortunately I can currently get 2 40k vehicles for every 30k vehicle, and I do love my tanks.

Looks great, overall. I do see some silvering on the left-hand lascannon's decal, though, and quite a bit on the rear door's eye. If you haven't varnished, yet, I'd suggest going back in with some decal solvent and trying to clean those up.

In the same position everything from forge world is SO Frickin expensive! A 10man squad of Iron armour marines would cost about £40-50 and if outfitted with FW bolters then more like £60!

Got to agree on the forgeworld prices. Plus they take far longer to prep. But the minis are so much cooler. Sometimes i just have to bite the bullet.

Cheers guys, I'm looking at picking up some more marine vehicles now I've had a bit of a confidence boost with this guy, looking at rhinos/vindicators as the next project

Those two seem particularly impervious to my decal softner, I'm not sure what it is about them but the silvering/"shine" on them persists.

Odd... Have you tried "popping the bubble?" Sometimes a few careful pin pricks or small slits with a sharp blade will weaken the film enough to let the softener finish the job. Might be worth a shot, as the only other options I see are to paint over it, hoping you match everything perfectly, or simply live with it (less than ideal, obviously, but it's not like the whole model looks crappy, now).
