Hey all, just wanted to get a couple other opinions on what Space Marine Chapter I should start building up to. To clarify, this is likely going to mainly be a painting/modeling project (I don't see it being tabletop ready/purchased for a long time).

I'm going to be using a combination of models/bits from GW, Forgeworld, Scibor, and PuppetsWar, with the emphasis being on the Lion iconography from Scibor miniatures.

Now even though I don't plan on this army hitting the tabletop for a long time, I would like to have some idea of what codex/chapter I would eventually be using. I'm mainly just looking for what would be the best fit for the model and units I plan on painting up.

There will be Terminators, and likely Bikes as well. So on that front I'm slightly leaning Dark Angels.

I'm also loving Jumpers too though, which then brings Blood Angels into the loop, mainly for their Vanguard Vets and Assault troops.

The Iconography of the Lion, and being more of a regal theme sort of eliminates Space Wolves and White Scars. And I also don't plan on having a ton of vehicles, possibly eliminating Imperial Fists?

Templars are a possibility but I won't commit to them until they get updated in some way.

Right now I'm kinda leaning toward Dark Angels with some Blood Angel allies. That sort of fits the Termies+Bikes+Jumper theme I'm going for, but I've never been big into Marines in general. Just want to start up an impressive looking SM army due to all the cool options they have when it comes to models.

Thoughts?

Sometimes, you just gotta take something cause the model is freakin cool...

i reccommend a DIY chapter because then you coud use the rules for all of the chapters if you wanted to

I swear I think those two have a hate-crush on each other sometimes.

If you're going for the lion motif, go Dark Angels: Lion'el Johnson was the primarch and commonly called "the Lion". Sons of the Lion would be a pretty good army to have an actual chapter that supports your desires. Don't focus on either Wing (death or raven), but focus mainly on regular troops with maybe a small detachment of guys from the Wings.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I'd probably go for a Homebrew Chapter, the only problem I can see is you want to have so many things in one chapter, I'd focus on one aspect, and then do the others one after the other until you have a large variety :3

Ya a homebrew/DA successor chapter seems like the direction its going. I guess the nice thing about going for a 'unique' chapter is the flexibility between codexes. I'll have to see what the new C:SM and Black Templars have to offer.
