So, right now you basically have to pick through Cadian or Catachan models as they are plastic and it seems GW is going pure plastic or on its way to that...

So does anyone know if a cooler group of guard is coming out when the codex does? Or are Cadian and Catachan the basics and accept it.

Well, there's also Vostroya, Krieg and Elysia. Not in plastic, a bit harder on the wallet, but cool (and legal) nevertheless. And there's the road often not taken, too: Customization. Building your own regiment out of any of the existing plastic ones plus WHFB and/or Forgeworld bits. I'm building a small army of traitor guardsmen myself, using modded Chaos Cultists as troops.

Honestly I haven't heard any rumors regarding new plastic Imperial Guard regiments so far, but I'm hoping for a "generic" IG infantry box, cadians maybe, and upgrade sprues with heads, arms, backpacks and torsos to combine to your liking.

Those are off the website...so limited quantities in the world and people can jack up the price.

All GW sells with a full range is Catachan and Cadian.

Just worried that they will stop selling one of those and/or create a cooler imp guard group after months of painting catachans or cadians.

They could always listen to us and make steel legion plastic with a full range as well.

CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT!

They're also still metal. Unless they updated them and left them in the Collector's section.

I Googled it and found the page. And yes, they're metal.

People have been wanting better Guard infantry for a long time; basically since the old metals got left behind.

Cadians have bobble heads, and catachancs are roid-monkies, more suitable as bits for Chaos Space Marines.

FW has awesome, but expensive and somewhat limited infantry. I've started a Krieg army myself, but the kits have only limited modularity, and they're about $65 each. They're nowhere near as easy to build as plastics, and have no extra bits.

There's rumours of a new plastic veteran/stormtrooper kit in the future, which would likely be viable as standard infantry, and there's no saying if they'll follow the Cadian aesthetic or somethign else (Catachans are largely a dead line; nothing's been added to them since the mid 90s as far as I know, but plastic molds last forever and input costs are low, so they don't need to sell much to remain profitable.)

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

On moon miranda.

The worst part about the IG plastics is that they all have facial expressions that convey an intense feeling of urgent and painful constipation.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Isn't that what happens when you've been on guard chow for months? Seems about right to me.

Forgeworld used to have a few different infantry sets, I think. Kind of expensive though. The only reason my Guard army is still purely mechanized is because I find the infantry kind of boring. If they had the Death Korps or those Russians (what are they called?) in plastic, I'd probably build up a gun line pretty quick.

Reportedly all metal IG is now OOP, at least all the 2nd edition/early 3rd edition.

So no more Mordian, Tallarn, Steel Legion etc.

NO rumors of new IG infantry but the last few army updates have not updated basic troops (even for ones that really need it like the Khorne Bezerkers or eldar bikes) nor filled in gaps (ie plague marines and 1k sons), only brought in new 'toys' fliers and monstrous creatures.

It would seem GW is happy with their basic troops and focused more on new stuff.

For the IG there are @#$%^-ton of options though.

Mantic, Wargames Factory, Defiant, Victoria Lamb, and a host of upcoming science fiction games.

One kickstarter worth checking out is Meridian Miniatures. Honestly they're the most innovative and interesting IG substitutes I have seen (and I have seen and tried almost all of them).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
One neat thing is he is selling separate heads so if you want to stick wtih GW you can get Cadians but do some cool head swaps.

Those guys with diving helmets on their heads would make a fantastic looking guard army. Seriously.

Pretty much any of them would make a better IG army than the Catachans or Cadians.

Seriously.
