I'm a beginner to Warmachine but ran a couple games with pretty much the same 25 pt. list. Won both games; the Butcher's feat is suprisingly effective with ranged units (I had a Destroyer and Widowmakers too).

I would suggest dropping one of the jacks out of each list and picking up a big infantry squad. The decimator is junk IMHO, low RAT and no AOE on the gun makes it pretty useless except against very heavy targets...who arent going to take alot of damage from those POW15s. The kodiak in the 15pt list is neat but it demands your focus. Alot of people will tell you that it is focus efficient due to it's free runs, but it isnt, it needs max focus almost all the time to be effective. This is because it's attacks arent that powerful and you usually really want to land the two initials for the chain attack. That means you will want to boost against alot of non khador targets.

I prefer the Jugg. It hits like a truck and is cheap. It can put significant damage on any jack without boosts which means you can just spend focus to buy attacks. It is a significant threat to anything on the board and you dont feel bad when it draws a ton of fire, since thats what its there for in a butcher list.

Look at units that can capitalize on butcher's feat while utilizing his upkeeps to make up for the unit's weakness. You wont see alot of people run these but take a look at Assault Kommandos (please refrain from jumping on me all at once for suggesting them). They have two main weaknesses, their DEF is sort of low, and their attacks dont hit very hard. pButcher solves both of those issues, he can make them DEF 15, and increase their POW to the point where they can damage lights and kill most infantry units and certainly threaten most warcasters. They ALSO get 3 attacks on a charge, all of which get bonus damage dice from butcher's feat turn. Lets break that down here: optimal alpha strike from AKs would be buffed from Fury and under pButcher's feat: They would have three attacks that would look like... 12+4d6, 11+3d6, 10+3d6. On avg rolls you get: 28 dmg+22 dmg+21 dmg per model. Not alot of generic infantry choices can do that. They may not crack Really high Arm models, but most heavy jacks and beasts will take a ton of damage from that 8pt squad. Most warcasters would be screwed if they got caught with a couple of those. AKs also offer some interesting tools, they can gas grenade as their bonus charge attack which debuffs enemy's DEF and ATK rolls, they ignore clouds which is very handy against lots of lists, and they are immune to fire and corrosion. Did I mention they can shieldwall? Yeah, DEF15/ARM18 can be tough to deal with for alot of units.

71 pts khador - 6 war casters
41 pts merc highborn - 3 warcasters
