Simple question, what is your favourite substitute for Kroot models in a Tau army? I personally quite like Cadians with pulse rifles as 'Greater Good' converts or other mercenaries, but I was wondering if anyone has seen any really different or original conversions?

I think bloodletters with tau collars or something of the sort would be neat.

I've been contemplating trying to convert up the new high elf Shadow Warriors kit with some rifles to maked up an exodite sniper unit counting as kroot. Its just a matter of finding the right rifles for the units.

@Liquid Squig that could look very cool. The modelling aspect is one of my favourites, so the idea of making a Tau collar things sounds really interesting and would also be a lot of fun.
@Melcavuk yeah, that sounds good also, the models are in really cool poses as well in that kit. For Kroot I imagine you'd need some sort of pulse carbine or rifle, especially with the new pulse rounds that are being used for the Kroot and I'm not the biggest fan of the Kroot rifle, which wouldn't work with the neatness of the Elves either.

I am working on some tau monks. Dark eldar wytches with tau torsos and heads, then giving them monk robes and cloaks. Probably only do a squad or two of them: I have never done very well with kroot in a game.

I did an auxiliary unit where I kitbashed some fire warriors with various other GW models. I used a human, skink, a saurus, an ungor, a daemonette and the head of a high elf (I used the helmet that looked like a finned serpent, and gave him a snake-like lower half). The fire warrior armor/color scheme tied them all together, but they looked very unique.
