Alright guys...
After several different theory-list-builds, I have settled on this one for tomorrow. (playing a friend to practice for tournament next weekend)
Tell me what you think and Ill update you when I play.
TBH: He usually runs demons (FMC style) but this is an all comers list.

Serpent Shock 1776 (hooray for patriotism)

Autarch (Scorpion chainsword)

new DAVU (5 Dire avengers in Wave Serpent *Scatterlasers and holo fields*
new DAVU (5 Dire avengers in Wave Serpent *Scatterlasers and holo fields*
new DAVU (5 Dire avengers in Wave Serpent *Scatterlasers and holo fields*
new DAVU (5 Dire avengers in Wave Serpent *Scatterlasers and holo fields*
new DAVU (5 Dire avengers in Wave Serpent *Scatterlasers and holo fields*
3x Jetbikes

8 Warpspiders

3x Warwalkers (scatterlaser brightlance)
Wraithknight (heavy wraithcannons)

Essentially; the list is Serpent Spam. I threw in the Autarch as a mandantory HQ, the Warpspiders for harassment, the Knight as an "attention Whore", and the walkers (as well as knight) for heavy vehicle popping.

Weird point level. When I first looked at the new codex my dirt cohesive take away was "whoa, war serpent spam is going to be legit." Needless to say, I think this list is tough.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.

So I got to play the aforementioned practice games today; and my opponent is every bit as "competitive" as I am.

He played Daemons/chaos Marines combo. I was pretty sure this was going to be my most challenging matchup.... this guy spanks me on the norm.

To the best of my recollection; he was running:
Fateweaver
GUO
2 Soul Grinders
Flying Nurgle Prince
Flying Nurgle Prince (CSM)
10 or so cultist
2x 10 plaguebearers.

Game one was played NOVA style with the respective goals being KP, Quarters, Objectives.
I learned a few things this game...
1.The Knight really fills the "red herring" slot!!
2. Don't use said Knight to charge a GUO with Iron Arm and It will not die.... because your knight will.
3. REMEMBER; GROUNDING CHECKS!!!
4. Serpents are AWESOME!! Cannon was an unnecessary purchase though.... too often going 12".
5. Holo-fields.... good investment.
6. Outflanking Scatter/Lance walkers punking a Grinder is super-sweet!!

So as you can probably tell; this was the first time my opponent has faced New-dar. (besides a game against Tau Dar *light on the dar*) He really suffered for it...

The serpents shooting the shield really took him by surprise, and you should have seen his face when the knight peeked out of my battlefoam at him!! He spent the first 2 turns just trying to shoot him up, until I charged his GUO like an idiot. Did not end well!
Battle Focus also threw him for a loop. "Your entire book can do that?!"

Won this game 7kp to 3 and 3 quarters with 1 contested.

Game 2:
Book mission Big Guns / Dawn of War (4 Objectives)

Lessons Learned:
1. Even after the initial shock of the first game facing a knight; all it takes is one ID of a DP with a S10 shot to turn the attention fully to him again.
2. Black mace is BRUTAL.
3. Keep serpents away from MCs!!
4. MOST IMPORTANT: Play to the objectives.

So this game started out with me wasting 3 serpents of shooting trying to kill PBs with a 2+ cover save.... stupid. On the second turn 2 were exploded in CC. He ended up taking all my serpents out, leaving only 2 units of DA in the end. Spiders died to GUO this time..... oh well. One DP took out 2 of my walkers and locked my knight for 3 rounds of CC before finally Sweeping him *with 3 wounds left*

We were working on a tie (with him having First Blood) until my Jbikes turbo-boosted to his side to contest his cultists objective..... lost one to a flamer, another in CC, and in the last round the Jbiker managed to sweep about 5 cultists and claim the objective.

I won with 2 objectives to his 1.... he got First Blood, and we both got HQ and Linebreaker.

Observations:
While the Knight did ID a MC, its guns often rolled 50/50 on to hit and wound (1 hit, 1 miss) (wound/scrap, whif). Think Im going to throw in the extra points to upgrade to the suncannon, scatter laser, and shield. (will also give him the much needed invo save. (blinding a MC in CC would be nice too) However; this will cut down on my anti tank....

While the Warp Spiders movement was unbelievable, their shooting was lackluster.... and CC sucked too. They really didn't do anything for me. Maybe its just me; but Im cutting them from this list.

Bikers did EXACTLY what they were meant to do! Hooray!

Autarch stuck in with DA squad eventually got into cc with the GUO (this guy was probably his MVP, and he's talking about ditching him (???) Having nothing but a scorpion sword WAS NOT a help. Using points from dropping Fast Attack to fully kit him out to be a "challenging / armor popping" soloist. (recovered that Anti Tank here.)

So my revised list:

+ HQ +

* Autarch
Banshee mask , Fusion gun, Haywire grenades, Mantle of the Laughing God, Plasma grenades, Shard of Anaris, Shuriken pistol, The Phoenix Gem
(Eldar Jetbike)
Twin-linked shuriken catapult

+ Troops +

5x * Dire Avengers
5x Dire Avenger
* Wave Serpent
Holo-fields (Holo-fields), Serpent Field, Twin-linked scatter lasers, Twin-linked shuriken catapults

* Windrider Jetbike Squadron
3x Guardian Jetbike, 1 Shuriken Cannon, Twin-Linked Shuriken Catapult

+ Heavy Support +

* War Walker Squadron
(Ancient Doom, Battle Focus, Fleet, Power Field, Scouts)
* War Walker
Brightlance, Scatter laser
* War Walker
Brightlance, Scatter laser
* War Walker
Brightlance, Scatter laser

* Wraithknight
Scatter laser, Suncannon and Scattershield

Hope it goes well NEXT Saturday!!
