It was during a tournament that was attended by a group from Wyoming. What they had done was to mix Chameleon Car paint in such a way that they could air brush their army. The result was incredible, with the colors changing for the viewer as the miniatures were looked at from different angles. It gave a true "living metal" feel for the army.
Has anybody seen anything similar?

Exactly that. It ranged several colors as one moved around the table.

I've seen a few models done with color shift paint - usually large insectile models like the Araknarok - and it always looks pretty great.

You mean like these? I painted a HUGE army in flip flop and later parted it out in lots.... Maybe you saw some.
If you're interested here's the relevant thread....

Those are extremely good looking Necrons, but the ones I saw were about 12 years ago.

Lol... did some way back then too. Sold them to a guy in Texas. I even used UV ink in the paint so they were blacklight reactive.
I'm doing my new elder stuff in it now.

I'd like to see those Eldar when you're done. That army would be impressive painted in that style.

They are called Polychromatic paints, or sometimes color changing paint. You can find them fairly often at Lowe's and Home Depot nowadays.

I ran up on some House of Kolor Kameleon airbrush paints about 10 years ago... which sadly are almost gone now.
Now you can only buy the flake that you have to mix yourself (and its EXPENSIVE!!)
Its actually very easy to use. You spray the mini black and then airbrush this over it.
I did my flyers with a rattlecan I found at Autozone (fullsize can @ $20)
