7x Plague Marines, 2x MG

20x Plague Zombies

20x Plague Zombies

Fast Attack
6x Bikers, MoN, 2x Melta

Heldrake, Baleflamer

Heavy Support
5x Havocs, 4 AC

5x Havocs, 4 AC

ADL, Quad gun.

Plan is to hold backfield with the zombie blobs and push aggressive with the Plagues into opponents. Rush down any heavy armor or dangerous squads with the Bikes. Heldrakes come in and Baleflame anything clumped or 3+. Havocs hang back on the ADL and blast anything in range. Either place Typhus into a zombie blob for counter aggression or into plagues to rush down a midfield objective.

Open to any and all suggestions. This list is for a tournament and I am in a heavy new army and drop pod meta (eldar, tau, SW). Also open to alliances to IG or Necrons. Looking for some suggestions.

As much as I would love to give them rhinos. It is guaranteed first blood. I've run them many times and they just die turn 1.

This is very true, I just played a game where they gave up first blood and easy kill points. But i still think your PM need something to get them into enemy lines if they are going to be a killy unit. Otherwise if you are just going to run them on foot, I have found i need at least a 10 man squad, more if points are available.

I miss the good old days when a man would build a skyscraper with his bare hands just so you would stop hitting him with a shovel.

I like your list but you realise you could take 2 Lord in Termy armour with melta bombs and still have points spare?
Then you could take blobs of cultists that can kick out shooting attacks for incoming enemy units. Also they have twice the number of attacks that Zombies have.

Melta guns on walking Plague Marines is a little pointless due to getting in range of targets where their guns would be useful.
You could consider giving just this unit a Rhino and keep it reserved. That way you limit first blood chances and you also have a fast moving unit that can contest an objective and take its melta to where it needs to be.

Havocs are something I've had good and bad experiences with. you really need an extra body or two to stop you loosing Autocannons or risks of running after failing morale.

The 6 bikers, although durable is 186 points for 2 Meltas.
Considering this is your only fast unit going forward it should potentially be easily dealt with by opposing forces.
I'd suggest to look at MoN Oblits instead because they too are durable, you can DS them to wherever they need to be and they are multirole giving you long range shooting, objective removal and melta if needed.

This looks a lot like a list I used to run.

* Why 20 man zombie squads? Have you thought of just running 10-15 man squads to free up points? Anything that can kill 10 zombies (10 marines drop podding, etc)( generally wont have a hard time killing 20.

* A nice beatstick/counter assault would really help. Typhus, while good, is not in the 'big boys' league. A DP will flatten him like a grape, since typhus lacks EW and is relying upon that 5++. I've been using a GUO + plague bearers (instead of cultists) and found that it really works well.

* I swapped my havocs out for predators. 5 man squads just evaporate if someone looks at them twice.
Edit : Oblits can work well here too if your facing lots of outflanking/deep strike.

* PMs make great mid-field troops.

* Your bikes feel slightly out of place. Are they there for line breaker? They seem to be an expensive squad for a simple suicide melta squad.

Stick em behind an aegis and they last a lot longer. That 4+ cover save doubles their durability.

Honestly, get some rhinos for those PM. First blood shouldn't be a huge concern. It's only 1 point. If every competitive game you plan on winning is by 1 point then what's the point?

Limiting your plague marines for fear of first blood ifs an easy way to lose the game. The rhino is so important to get them to midfield turn one where they excel. Otherwise they're too slow

This edition has kind of killed named characters for me in most instances newer books have them as fluffy and good but not that good.. Not enough to justify the cost anyway... My orks hadone of the best examples.. Ghaz was almost mmandatory... Now... Meh. I think a chaos lord for plagues is the way to go here. Cheaper and gets you more plauges. I also like the dual lords for plauge and noise marines both as troops... Also oblots over havocks and I like to keep em solo and cheap, fills a force org slot and forces your opponent to take them on one by one.
