Been thinking about this since the new Eldar Dex dropped.
I'm thinking the best two HQs to stick with a big stack of Grot meat might be Baron and a Spiritsear. You basically get Invisibility without having to play the psychic power lottery. Plus, pretty much all the other Runes of Battle work quite well with a Grotstar.
I then like to throw a real nasty beat stick into mine. Either Lili, Vect, or one of the Aspect dudes, depending on who I'm making my primary.
Anybody else played with new combinations? I think the base of Baron+Spiritsear is a must, so far.

Well, such a unit would be rather slow. How many Grots?

Grotesques. Not Grots.
heheh. It amuses when people make that mistake (common enough to be sure). Who would try to make a death star out of Grots? Automatically Appended Next Post:
It's slowish, but so damn resilient to not be terribly so. Plus, Spiritsear could get it 3"+ run, which would be pretty nifty when it lands.
The amount varies by list, but usually between 6 on the small end to a full 10.
I think the Spiritsear is what is interesting me the most right now. Literally everything in Runes of Battle work well with them.

Yes, how quaint for someone to think you meant grots when you said grots.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Conceal from the Spiritseer, plus Stealth from the Baron?
On Grotesques?
Not bad. Expensive, but not bad.

No doubt. Its a complete understandable mistake, except the whole "who the hell would try to make a Deathstar out of Gretchen" thing. Heh. Automatically Appended Next Post: Puscifer wrote:Conceal from the Spiritseer, plus Stealth from the Baron?

Yeah, if you start with 10 and don't upgrade anything, you are looking around 520. Still considerably less the some of the super Death Stars. Another thing that intrigues me though is it's a pretty awesome delivery system for Beat Sticks. Which initially makes it more expensive, to be sure, but the intention will be to split the beat stick off on its own once you hit the enemy lines.

I like the idea.
I'd want to make this into a Coven of Pain list.
That seems like a good way to run Grotesques.
I like the fluff for them, but they are very weak as they need to get there. But this cancels that out somewhat.

The real key to building this list successfully would be surrounding it with durable enough units to confuse your opponents target priority.
I'm also not sure about whether you'd want Eldar or Dark Eldar primary, though I lean towards Eldar for the extra psychic powers. I'd probably take Vect as my beatstick for the ability to go first more often, have a shadowfield in case I get fortune and terrify opponents.
If I went Eldar primary i'd probably consider Wraithlords or Knights and maybe a Talos from DE.
It's a tough unit that will give a lot of armies trouble. I would be weary of Tau though, they can easily ignore cover and the massive amounts of Str.7 invalidate the toughness of the Grots.
What's a sample list of your's look like?
