This is part one in a series I am making on rusted and weathered terrain. The first video shows how to achieve a good texture for your rusted terrain.




In this tutorial you will learn how to texture your terrain and end up with results like this:


The next tutorial will be for weld lines followed by painting rust effects.


...then chipped paint and water streaks.



To complete the series I plan to finish with wooden nails, planks, and steel girders.



I am building an ork mec shop/tower for the series.

You can use regular styrofoam. I ended up covering the entire foam portion of the piece with rocks and rubble. The foam is just for structural support. I will take some photos and get them posted so you can see the progress.

I tried to make my own hot-knife foam-cutter wire tool once, using guitar string as the filament, but the voltage and amperage was all wrong and just burned the thing to a crisp!

These vids are absolutely awesome and inspiring, thank you for posting all of this!
