Need quick answer, mid-game. Assaulting from the lower level of a ruin through a wall with no windows. 7" away. There's no LOS to the assaulters, does overwatch still fire?

If there's no LoS to the assaulted how are they declaring a charge?

If the over-watching unit doesn't have line of sight, how does the assaulting unit have line of sight?

Page 20, Declare Charge section states the assaulting unit needs to have line of sight to make a charge. So while you can technically move through the wall of the ruin, you still need to be able to see the enemy on the other side to be able to interact with them. If there is no line of sight from the enemy, then it is very unlikely you will have a line of sight through this solid wall as well. Therefor the charge can not take place, no over watch is needed as the unit isn't being charged, and you have your answer.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

No. It says it uses LoS like normal shooting.

There is a possibility for Chargers to have LOS but no Defenders to have LOS, especially with elevation changes.

The Chargers might be under an overhang with LOS to the target's feet/lower legs, while the target has 0 LOS to any of the chargers.

In this(or similar cases) the charge target is allowed Overwatch, that they cannot perform.

The rules are clear, if the charge target has no LOS to the charger, then the target has no valid shots for the overwatch.

The same goes for partial unit visibility, if only 1 model in the charging unit has LOS to the target unit(and visa verse),. then while the unit may declare the charge only the models visible to the charged unit can be killed via overwatch(this could even lead to a single model in LOS to begin with, and dying, but the target still getting charged by all the models that did not have LOS to begin with)

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Some Tomb World in some galaxy by that one thing in that one place (or Minnesota for nosy people)

The necron tomb stalker is a perfect example of charging without LOS with his one special rule (can't remember name off the top of my head)

"Put your 1st best against you opponents 2nd best, your 2nd best against their 3rd best, and your 3rd best against their 1st best"-Sun Tzu's Art of War

"If your not winning, try a bigger sword! Usually works..."

A good way to (mostly) avoid Overwatch in a situation like this is to have a single model in LOS to the defenders. You have LOS, so can declare a charge. But since LOS is only to the single model, only that model can die--then make your charge move.
