We've just scratchbuilt 3 Thunderfire Cannons and Techmarines for our Mechanicus themed Space Marine army.
Lots more photos and info can be found here: http://gravengames.co.uk/iron-guard-techmarines-and-thunderfire-cannons/

Also, check out the rest of the army here: http://gravengames.co.uk/tag/iron-guard/

I'm confused to why you would scratchbuild something so close to the original?

Why not just get the Citadel model?

I am currently taking commissions.

@AG. That's kind of what I was wondering. I mean, it IS awesome. I think there are a couple of different schools of thought on scratchbuilding. Some try to emulate the existing model where exact duplicate is perfection, and some do it to change the model and make it their own. If OP was going for the first, then they've definitely done a bang up job

The tech marines are also preeety spiffy. Whole army is cool, quickly looked at a few pictures (and have seen it around before). I have a similar concept but not as devoted to the bionics and mars aspect. Really neat stuff though.

Good question AG (and thanks to GrimDork for the explanations and kind words). Here are the reasons I chose to build these rather than buy the official model:

I wanted 3 of them and the official model is £36. 36x3 = £108 ...these cost a LOT less than that.
I didn't want another 3 of the same techmarine gunner model.
I don't think either metal or finecast is a good material for this cannon. I don't like metal models in general to be honest, and the finecraft seems too weak. My plastic cannons are light, durable, and can be disassembled for easy transport.
I've heard lots about the official model not fitting together well.

Yeah these are really nice and they're so similar I can't see any complaints in a tourney setting.

really nice work

I completely agree with the points you make, I hope they make a multi part kit.

you should post up your other thunderfires they all look awesome. I'd really love to see a tutorial or WIP on the torso armour and servo arms.

Wow these are awesome. My scratchbuild one isn't nearly as nice haha. Very awesome job on the tech marines and I may have to just borrow the design haha.
